The Behind The Scenes section for the episode:

http://www.starwars.com/tv-shows/star-wars-rebels/secret-cargo-behind-the-scenes-gallery

depicts an MC80 that is slightly longer than an ISD. Close ups taken of that MC80/ISD pic have been used to extrapolate that it has a length of roughly 1.9 km.

I can't read the text on the pic, and I can't zoom in because the pic keeps refocusing hahaha

If it is 1.9km and it is Home One, that still doesn't explain why it looks so small in that scene.

It is all perspective of the picture in the OP

Rewatch the scene and you'll see what I mean.

It wasn't in the text, it was simply they upscaled the image of ISD profile next to MC80 profile, counted the ISD as 1.6 km, and worked out how big the MC80 was compared to it.

Who says it is Home One anyway? It could be a generic 1.2km mc80.

I agree. It could be a small MC80. Not all were build the same, but Ironlord posted the behind the scenes for the episode, and it says it's Home One.

I don't know. I still don't think it is bigger than a gladiator. It would hold a lot more if it was.

Can anyone explain how the Ghost works as a fighter carrier? I've seen it with As and now with these Ys, but how in the hell does the pilot get into or out of the fighter? Is just a fuel saving measure? Is the pilot trapped in the fighter the whole time it's attached? Because short of a space suit and an airlock on the Ghost I don't see how a pilot gets to or from the two craft.

Watch the latest episode, they actually show a Y-wing mating up with the Ghost - the cockpit passes through a force screen on the open cargo bay bottom hatch and then they just open the cockpit and climb out. I assume there are similar force shields for the left & right hatches.

Ray shields keep the atmosphere. Some ray shields allow ships to move through them. The Venator central hanger bay had ray shields on all the hanger decks while the dorsal door opened. Also, in RotS, the Invisible Hand has ray shields up before they get shot, then the blast doors slam shut to prevent atmosphere from being lost.

I assume it's the same thing in the Ghost.

That, and the Docking on the Side Doors for the Ghost was purely because those Ys are ones they stole from Reclam Station, and thus did not have Hyperdrives - they had to dock in order to Traverse Hyperspace.

Okay, I can see how it would work for the Ys, thank you.

But what about for the As? Where the cockpit is pointed directly away from the Ghost and the docking clamp attaches to the bottom of the A-Wing?

I don't think I've seen it dock As in the same way as it docks Ys there, to be honest. I've seen As docked to Cr90s, and launch out of the mouth of the Pelta... But not docked directly to the Ghost, as of yet...

I'm pretty sure Disney just goofed all the sizes of the ships.

I don't think proportions look right on A LOT of things in Rebels, stormtrooper helmets, lightsaber width, ISD sizes (don't particularly like the giraffe neck)

I think a lot of these were attempts to invoke the "feel" of Ralph McQuarrie's art.

I think Ironlord is right - shows like Rebels and The Clone Wars aren't trying to give you an exact representation of reality (whatever that is in a fictional space world), or they'd be using real actors and complex set designs. Instead they're cartoons, they're digital artwork, and with that comes an element of stylisation. Some of that is drawn from McQuarrie (such as the lightsabers and that probe droid from a couple of episodes that could transform), a lot of it will simply be practical necessity and artistic license for the purposes of what is essentially a kids' show, but it doesn't need to detract from the quality of the show.

So will quasar be imperial or rebel? Or both?! Speculate!!!

My guess is Imperial. It's largely logically in terms of what's available to FFG to work with: the Rebels already have options for new ships from the latest films and TV shows, where the Empire is more limited. But I'm also working on the understanding that the Imperials have lots of them, where the Rebels have one.

I could see there being a title that would allow the Rebels to take it, essentially at a supplementary cost and limiting them to only ever having one in a fleet. That could be cool.

Or imperial with a title that allows it to be rebel and have rebel only upgrades

I hate the giraffe neck. It looks horrible.

What is this giraffe neck?!

On the ISDs. Their 'neck', or the bit connecting the bridge to the main body of the vessel, is annoyingly long. . .

See, for example, this: Normal ISD

As compared to this: Rebels ISD
And this: Rebels ISD, again

Hey, if a TV show primarily designed to keep kids quiet on a Saturday morning wants to artfully capture the 70s styling of some of Star Wars most iconic designs, evoking the great man himself, I'm on board.
