My main takeaway from this weekend's System Open

By PhantomFO, in X-Wing

I was part of Friday's flight in Seattle. Due to a parking snafu, I was late arriving. Fortunately, I get there and am tools they hasn't started yet, so I quickly made my way to my table and start setting up. As I do so, I realize that all of my pilot and upgrade cards for my fleet were still sitting on my kitchen table, where I had double checked them to make sure they were all there.

I tell my opponent and go to the TO, thinking maybe I can shift to Saturday's flight. Instead, he asks the room if anyone has the cards I need. Within minutes, three different people have hooked me up with the cards I forgot so I can get flying.

That, right there, is why the X-Wing community is awesome. Fly casual, folks.

It was a great crowd. I also flew on Friday and never played anyone who caused any problems. I remembered when you realized you were missing cards and other players quickly helped out. It started the day out with a good vibe. I had the feeling that everyone was there to have fun and and enjoy the Endor Open.

I've seen this kind of thing happen at virtually every major tournament I've been to, most often with dials, or with broken ships (I've been meaning to put some superglue in my tourney kit forever...) and it's really encouraging. By and large this community is super chill and it's great.

Where in Seattle? I'm up here in Everett and have no one to play.

Rather than directly answer your question, I'm going to refer to to this post by Earthworm! Covers basically every organized X-Wing group in the Puget Sound area.
