What are the most tightly balanced and "fun" list matchups?
1. Evenly Matched, Close Finish: Low Margin of Victory. Minimize blow out wins or losses. No clear advantage in either list, the closer the pilot skill the better, or at least alternating ship initiative.
2. Dogfights First: Emphasis on manuverability, flight mechanics, and what I like to call "Top Gun Maverick" moments.
3. Limited "Negative" Mechanics: So take it easy on Ion tokens, Stress chuckers, Kylo Ren...if it hurts either players opportunity or incentive to "dogfight" it should be carefully placed on the table. Basically demphasize moments where Ice Man forces Goose to eject break his neck and die...
4. Low Complexity: 30 to 100 pt lists. Large base ships allowed, but preference for small ship dogfights. Two v Two 60 pt matches seems to have the best flow but the # of ships to manage doesnt matter a ton. Less is more is still the guiding principle.
5. Quick Matches: Faster the better.
6. Thematic is a bonus but not more important than the above items.
Basically, if you could only play three lists against each other for eternity, what would you choose from each faction?
