Your most humilitating Armada experience?

By Norell, in Star Wars: Armada

My first game against another new player, although he at least had tabletop experience. I started with a 399 point fleet which consisted of a ISD II, Combat Interdictor and 2 Assault Gozanti. I misread the G8 Experimental Projector upgrade, that left me with 129 point trash heap. lol My fleet revolved around tractor beams to slow everything and I had 1 squadron - Maarek.

My opponent basically ran the Imperial content from the core set, along with Fett, Bossk and Dengar. So his fleet was around half the cost.

I set up what would be the only decent ship in my fleet way too far out, in an attempt to set up a pincer attack on his VSD. I forget to use my Titus card and find out about my mistake with the Interdictor build around the beginning of the second round.

He sends his rogues after my Interdictor and I'm soon tanking damage from them and the front arc of his VSD. With my Interdictor rapidly getting trashed, we get the announcement that our game would be ended at the end of round 4 (2 new guys doesn't make for a fast paced game and it was a tournament). I spot a lonely TIE fighter he'd pushed out for whatever reason and quickly use a squadron token to activate Maarek and jump him. I get a good roll and take it out straight away.

We get to the squadron phase of round 4. My ISD II has finally reached the fight, but never got to fire a shot. My limping Interdictor has a couple of hull points left and like one shield defense token left. He manages to do enough damage to get me down to 1 hitpoint from death and I just manage to completely burn my shield token to keep the ship alive.

Saved by an 8 point lead and the game being cut short. But it was my first game ever, so I'll take that pathetic win with both hands. lol

Showed up to GenCon without a large base for my ISD...

Thanks to Bobby C for letting me borrow a spare at the last second! Literally saved my vacation!

At the dawn of the game, I was rolling a pair of Nebulons and going after a VSD1. He was first player and moved into range. I move both Nebulons up into close range AND happen to have side arcs on his 6 TIE fighters that are between my just moved Nebulons.

All 6 TIEs hit one Pristine Nebulon in the side arc. Dead neb. He then goes first and blows out two shields for Dominator and throws in a CF Command. Two accuracoes, 3 black hit/crit, and 2 damage between the reds. Dead neb. One shotted through the front arc.

Round three at Nationals at Gencon with my CR-90 Swarm (first tournament ever), I bent over to measure blue dice range to the extremely close game winning shot against a Gladiator with one hull and no shields left...and knocked it over with my ID badge.

My first tournament I managed to split a game but in the second ALL of my bomber and fighters came up blank. A game that should have been a much closer split ended being 8-2 because of it. Afterwards I was so frustrated and I sent my Demo into a toilet bowl of Assault Frigates and got reamed on turn 2....I got 8th....out of 8....

This wasn't me, but the worst thing that has happened in our group was a friend was tabled on turn 3 without even doing one damage to anything. He hadn't learned the 'stay the f*ck away from a star destroyer's front arc lesson' yet

My roommate just relearned that hard lesson tonight with our latest CC game. Vader's ISD killed an MC30 outright and mangled a Pelta so bad that it had no choice (nowhere else to go) but ram Vader and explode.

Thankfully, my roommate is no fool and wisely chose to jump his remaining two ships (a Liberty and a CR90) just as Vader and his two untouched ships (an Arqy and an Interdictor) got in to position to spend the last two turns shooting all the everything.

In his defense, his Liberty mangled Vader pretty solidly before leaving.

Funny moment of the game: the rebs armed station and Vader traded shots and both hit precisely nothing.

Forgetting to do my squadron command with yavaris at my regional........

I took my 3ISD CC fleet up against Sato 3 AFKs with a Biggsball Jan and Nym backed by a base defense ion cannon. By turn three Nym had cost my two lead ISDs a brace each and his AFKs and ion cannon made short work of both of them. Worst part is I built the list for the guy that crushed me so bad.

I once rammed two of my ships to death against eachother at the same time.

In the last CC game my liberty was down to one hull and the neb B behind it was set to ram it on its activation so the empire decided to shoot the other neb thinking i would kill myself. I was laughing inside and smugly revealed my navigate command and stopped my neb dead. hahahaha. then his gonzi shot the liberty in the ass and brought it down with one blue! Of course next turn that sationary neb went pop too.

Lesson, dont be so smug until the end of the round!

My Corellia Campaign going 5-0 including at least one total loss of EVERYTHING in round 2. By the final game I was not a happy camper and had pretty much consigned the rebellion to defeat. The last time I will ever rely on an A-wing screen.

Not me, but my friend's first match against me, he deployed very poorly with his rebel fleet by putting ships he'd focus with the front arc near the middle point of the table and his mc80 and nebulon by the far side... by round 3 he was overlapping most of his ships. Lucky for him I had a G-8, a G-7 and Phyloms, so he didn't lose entirely by his own damage

Yeah there was one time.... I got beaten by a dual Interdictor fleet. I ran Liberties and he was able to get out of my front arc and just rip the sides to pieces... it was a TKO by dumpster fire... so embarrassing.

Going from a two point MoV in my favor to 86 points the other way, because I didn't use Demolisher's nav command to cut speed. I was swinging the ship around the board edge, so ending up flying towards the Rebels was inevitable, but reentering range of the surviving Assault Frigate was a poor life choice. In the interest of full disclosure it was only that close because I had 6 Superior Positions tokens, but I think the principle stands.

I forget to shoot with my Gozantis. All the **** time.

Playing madine, trying to stay out of arcs and be smart. Got myself shot up badly by a demolisher dancing through my mc30's front arcs. It felt like playing against madine.

Definitely trying to fish X-wings out from under the sofa after my cat put them there while my mother in law complained in Chinese about how grown men shouldn't play with toys.

Not me but a friend in CC

He had a ISD, a GSD and a interdictor, 2ties and 3decimators first round.

I had a MC30, a AFMK2, a pelta and a cr90 with a strong bomber fighter fleet.

I took out his ISD with the pelta and a couple of bombers, while the MC30 and the CR90 murdered his GSD

I lost one Xwing and 1 HWK, he lost everything except the interdictor and a 1health decimator

?????

My first time ever playing an MC30 swarm I started my attack run only to have my opponent drop all his ships to speed 0 unexpectedly just outside my range to wait for me to blow by. But then, because of both our trajectories and speed, despite both of us spamming nav commands to bring our fleets together, we made it round 6 in about 20 minutes without firing a shot. His squadrons killed one of my A-Wings, so he won with an 11 pt MOV with no shots being fired. Both of us felt pretty embarrassed.
