Royal Guard Interceptor Squadron

By BadMotivator, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Soontir Fel: Royal Guard TIE, PTL, Stealth Device, Autothrusters 35 points

Turr Phenir: Royal Guard TIE, VI, Stealth Device, Autothrusters 31 points

Carnor Jax: Royal Guard TIE, VI, Stealth Device, Autothrusters 32 points

98 points total

What does everybody think? Its a little one dimensional, purely focused on avoiding getting hit and outmaneuvering the enemy. And using high pilot skill to shoot the enemy first before they have a chance to shoot back, hopefully.

I want to try snapshot on Turr... but it looks fun enough.

Carnor's VI might be better as PtL; not sure (looks like we both started pretty recently. I bought Interceptors, too!). But yeah, you have the optimal triple Interceptors build. Unfortunately, as you may know, they are not favoured in the meta right now because of their low number of hit points. They are also considered a difficult ship to fly, as they're entirely reliant on your skill in maneuvering to survive. In my opinion, that may just make them more rewarding to learn on, though - if potentially frustrating. Please let us know how it goes; I'd be interested to hear your impressions of its performance against various lists and any tips you develop, since my experience is rather limited.

Will do. I like the idea of needing to outmaneuver the opponent to stay alive.

I'm not really an expert on Interceptors(also just started), but just going to give my two cents(lol)

imo, jax REALLY needs PtL to get in the enemy's face without dying, and turr is interesting, but I've always had a soft spot for Lorrir, pity he doesn't have a EPT. Otherwise, it's a pretty strong list(might get stomped abit in the meta if you have bad flying like me XD) albeit a hard one to fly. Have fun :)

its definitely a hard decision between PTL and VI. The VI lets me shoot first most of the time though.

i have played three interceptors so many times.... So maybe i could give you some tips:

the first, and most important thing, it's to understand that an opportunity to attack is not very important if you can avoid being attacked. Push the limit is, at least for me, the best choice for all of them. Veteran instints... Maybe on turr, as if you get at range I very close to the enemy ship and you fire first, you can get out of his firing arc with his ability, but even with him push the limit is a good option.

this list was very, very good when the veterans came and the defenders became popular, if you don't commit errors, you should win without problems, same with double IGs and that kind of lists. i didn't even used stealth device as in most of the Games the opponent didn't fire at all... I understand that this can be very frustrating for the opponent (i stopped playing this for that reason), but, to be fair... Everyone was using defenders, and i was tired of playing against them.

Anyway, this, is probably the worst moment for that list, parattani and most of the scum lists of he current meta is a terrible pairing... Same with rebels, where you will find tlts, bombs, dash and the Falcon shooting 360... i don't think is a good idea to fly this now, but please, if you do, tell us how it goes ;-)

This is all about right for triple interceptors. Very fun to fly though and worth giving it a try, but as mentioned, the meta does not favour this build atm.
