The rest of wave 1 announced

I assume this is part of the same wave as the other packs since they both have a 2nd quarter target.

highlights:

Mounted Heroes ($25)

"Big Guys" (rune golems and carrion lancers) are 2 to a box for $35

Spearmen/reanimates are $25/2 trays as expected.

Huzzah for late Friday news! And I'm so happy to see alternate sculpts for the biggies. I'll still need to customize my lancers so they don't look too alike, but it will be fun.

This is awesome. Now I'm sure I won't buy two cores, as I'll be wanting the upgrade cards in the individual units. Plus, I don't really want to collect two armies (at least until the Orcs come out).

Yeah, I'll only buy two cores if I can find someone to split it with.

Someone wake me up when the dwarven army gets here. ;)

Yeesh, the Necromancer can do wounds to himself to add full trays to Waiqar troop formations?

That's awesome news...we are spoiled this week. This does only mean that the game will soon or later go from "on the boat" to "shipping". So we're on time guys...or maybe this article is to have us withstand with an eventual delay...but I don't dare think about that any longer.

Thanks @FatherTurin for sharing it. Wouldn't have expected a news today !

and if they say "second quarter 2017", it means we can expect something for summer/early autumn and for winter. So this is Runewars year guys ! :D

I'm probably still getting two cores. This is what you get (not counting duplicate heroes) for $200 (MSRP)

8 trays of spearmen

4 trays of knights

2 rune golems

8 trays of reanimates

4 trays of archers

2 carrion lancers

Then one of each box per unit for one faction (to get upgrades and list building flexibility) is $135.

Plus you have a whole second army to sell off if you only want to play one side.

Obviously the better option would be buy one core and trade the units you don't want or need with someone else, if I can decide on a faction, that is the route I will go.

Also, as far as random speculation goes, since the big guys are 2 to a box, I feel like that opens the door to "starter armies" for the other factions. 4 infantry, 2 cavalry/special infantry, hero, big guy. That's just shy of $120 there, so maybe...75-80 to make it an army deal?

Alternate sculpts for the big baddies is a huge plus, didn't expect that. Also glad they're 2 for 35 rather than 1 for 25.

I'm going to keep the second half of my core, just so I have a basic army to teach people the game with and play with my dad who will be willing to play, but is probably not going to get his own stuff. But I'm not going to keep up with two armies.

New terrain cards and mission cards on heroes expansions. Good thing. Sadly different for each army, because only a few people will collect all armies.

Two sculptures for big guys is a plus

Undead hero depend of runes to range attack.

To me the principal instant buys are the two heroes and the reinforcements for carrion lancers and golems. the rest will be for the additional cards and spare minis. for my initial buy, I'm now on the fence between one or two core sets. I'm still a bit worried about the game material solidity (and I'm mainly concerned about the trays quality even if we discussed it long enough on this forum). I don't want to find myself struggling with trays that don't fit smoothly together or are a pain in the *ss to take off a unit... Otherwise, I'm still in for sure. But I know myself, the more I buy the more i'll need time to paint the minis and the game will be delayed... and my beginning PhD will come along, crashing the few time I'll be able to spare. My new job as a teacher won't help me neither...crap :D but at least I'll have some cash to buy more stuff :P

This is my plan, 2 cores splitting the second so I will have 3x waiqar and one core worth of daqan to test if I like them and teach others the game, I will probably end up trading them away for more waiqar...I really need to focus on one army this time around...then I will just be buying each waiqar expansion. success! I am so stoked for this!!!I'm hoping may/june but @Elrad is probably right. Though the big hope and hint this gives me is that we will see the other factions later this year for a sept-dec release!

Gonna go broke buying carrion lancers, and I'll do it with a smile on my face!

I like the cut of your jib.

Someone get this skeleton a giant poisonous grub to ride!

Y'know... I was originally gonna stick with Daqan (those Golems just so sexy) but the pics of the Reanimates really look great. Ankar Mauro looks cool too. Now I can't decide. Maybe I'll wait until I've got the core in hand and have played a couple games as each side before deciding.

The new terrain seems thematically linked to the faction (at least the Waiqar ones)

I can see this going one of two ways ...

Either the terrain is functionally identical to terrain already in the core, merely different art/shape

or

There are cool new properties/effects associated with the new terrain.

that's a healthy attitude. Should do the same but I'm already high in Hype by now :)

So we're still waiting on the Necromancer and Mage that were originally showcased in the initial announcement is that right?

Those aren't the guys in the Infantry command unit sets?

I think so. they are the first in line to be released I think. Along with oathsworn cavalry and Waiqar's archers reinforcements.

Some faction specific terrain would make sense, and fit with the faction specific terrain you can take in Battlelore, rune crystals, graveyards, blood fields and the like.

Also I noticed two cards on carrion lancers and golems. This means are we going to get two dial??? This could be appreciated.

Yeah I noticed that as well, but only one dial pictured.

Still, it would mean being able to use 2 individually with another embedded in a unit with the core set.

Hope it comes with a dial for each though... would be irritating to have to buy a separate dial if we want to field the golems all individually.

It would seem to me to be logical to include a dial for each tray in an expansion.
