GMs what are your favorite pc characters?

By TheShard, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Do you have any memorable pc characters from past or present games? Any favorites? If so do you still remember stats or do they have a swsheet still hanging around?

I played as a pc with a group till the gm left and I took over. This was back in the d6 days. I barely used the rules as I didn't know many of them, and didn't own the book. However what I knew, asked around, and made up kept that game going for a while.

A friend had a character Dek(like deck) Rangefinder, sorta a cap'n Kirk meets Danny Craig character. Ends up being revered as a god by natives of a planet he discovers. He retires there as a benevolent if lazy and corrupt autocrat of the region.

I seem to get more memorable scenes than memorable characters in my games. All time best moment was a d6 game where a PC (on foot) gets hit by a Y-wing and lives (incapacitated). The 2nd PC who was with him couldn't carry him out, so made a big point about hiding the 1st PC, made a very good roll, etc. Then when bringing back the medic, couldn't find the 1st PC because he got lost (multiple navigation fails, despite bonuses). Amidst the general laughter of the table, PC #1 suggest that his character was found and eaten by squirrels.

Of the PC's in my current group, the two that I probably find the most entertaining are...

- The brains-over-brawn bounty hunter heavily inspired by the character 'Garth' from Supernatural.

- The darkside-raised Chiss warrior who's trying to redeem herself (and generally doing a mediocre job of it ; )

I think in our current campaign, my favorite character is an Arcona Diplomat, who constantly talks back to his rebel commander, has a depressive protocol droid that lugs his wardrobe around, rather takes the back door than help his friends when they get into combat, and has no qualms about rallying the oppressed to send them to fight imperial walkers, knowing most of them will not survive.

I also play in a Fallout campaign using the EotE system (so kinda offtopic?), where my favourite PC is a drug addicted wastelander Bounty Hunter, who thinks he is the rightfully elected president of the USA and is pretty rascist against ghouls, especially mexican ones.

love all posts in this thread, but this one really made my day!

btw EoTE works perfectly with Fallout, Firefly or any other sci-fi western for that matter

I have an entire group of pcs I enjoy.

Some examples

Buzz, the Clone pilot that has become more bitter and furious the more we play. He's got a thing against Jedi and is slowly convincing his entire group they should hunt force users for profit.

Jareth'Pho, the Twi'lek doctor who's lost his license due to his addiction and has recently taken up with a cult of droid worshippers.

Sosage, the Wookiee assassin who doesn't really use his assassin's instincts. He mostly just gets in over his head in fights.

My current fave is Dr. B'ttz, the Sullustan Booster Blue addict doctor who is trying to overcome his addiction while becoming the galaxy's greatest pirate commodore.

I have a half-Chiss pilot in my party who's obligation is Resource Acquisition. One of the first things acquired for the Rebellion was five creds from the sale of a broken chair taken from someone's apartment:D The pilot also sometimes cuts losses when things look bad....and yes, that can mean everyone else in the party!

I have to say that's probably my favorite right now. It makes for some really fun games!

I have a Clawdite Martial Artist who is just amazing. His motivation and obligation are both fame so whenever he beats someone down he makes an athletics or a coordination check to "finish" him. He also never complains about his circumstances. like in our first session, he got into a pitfighting tournament and was fighting for the title against a wookie and he got beaten down and even got one of his arms removed he was just like, "I guess I had it coming for hospitalizing everyone else in the tournament and slamming sand into his eyes."

He also may try to claim the 40000 bounty that one of the other players has on his head..... An overall amazing character.

So, as a player I have a number of characters that I’ve run that I have really enjoyed.

But as GM, I can’t recall any that I especially liked. I mean, all the PCs that my players ran were fine and well-played, but I don’t recall any of them being especially favorites of mine. And there were a few NPCs that I had which I liked, but that game didn’t last that long, and I didn’t get to use those NPCs that much.

I know this is off topic but where did you get the rules for the Fallout RPG? Did you make them or could you tell me the sight?

You should check out GM Phil's breakdown for his Fallout conversion on the D20Radio blog.

He also had rules for building power suits, but I couldn't seem to find it. You may have to dig through the D20Radio facebook group to find it.

I didn't GM it, but I know that the GM loved the elderly Chiss pacifist doctor who scolded the rest of us all the time for our violence and sometimes healed our enemies. There was also Trey Nord, a human droid engineer whose hands were so clammy and limp that shaking them was like grabbing a dead fish, complete with the slightly moist feeling afterwards. He had all the charisma and sex appeal of a spider, but was generally a nice guy if you got to know him, which almost no one did. I played a brutish thug of a smuggler who was sick of beating people and just wanted to play pranks on the rest of the crew. He accomplished that last part. There was also Castor Troy, who earned the title of Galaxy's Worst Bounty Hunter in game by forgetting to get an IPKC and by not claiming a single bounty during the entire campaign until the very end, when he returned a prized pet pig-thing to a distraught, but bemused, noblewoman.

The captain, who just wanted to make money and lower our Obligation, had no idea what to do with us. The GM thought it was the greatest, though.

We use the EotE system with a few changes: some skills are replaced/renamed (eg. driving instead of piloting planetary) and our GM insisted on adding combat skills like small guns and energy weapons like in the video games (we also have the usual ones, but when firing a plasma pistol for example, we use the mean value of the ranged - light and energy weapons skill).

Other than that, all the careers and specs from EotE work perfectly well. Species are homebrewed, as are weapons and especially vehicles, but all are more or less based on existing items from the books. The setting is based on New Vegas and the old isometric games I think, but I never played those, anyways, lots of desert.

If there's a general interest I might write it up for the forum, but our documents are not in english and not everything is perfectly balanced though, and I'm so lazy...
