Hey all, the timing for the all-out assault. Is it declared when you would declare your team's first assault? Just curious as to who would get to declare first, in case it comes up in our campaign.
CC All-Out Assault Timing
Was wondering that myself. I don't think it specifies and may not always matter anyway. But when it does matter I'd go with what you have there as a way of deciding who gets to 'declare' first.
This is easily answered:
You can declare an All-out Assault INSTEAD of a regular assault.
Assaults are declared in order as determined by current CP; i.e. the team with the lowest number of CP declares first.
So if you have a situation where the Imps have 9 CP and the Rebs 8, the Rebels would be able to declare first.
I agree with Green Knight in this matter, I'd say that the player with fewer CP (or in case of a draw it would be the Rebels) should have the chance to declare first as if it would be the declaring of normal attacks.
I take the chance to make another question in regards to declaring the All out offensive attack. The rulebook says this:
"When a team begins the Strategy Phase with a campaign total that is within four points of the total needed to win the campaign, they may declare an All-out Offensive instead of declaring any other assaults."
So only the team that is within 4 points to win can declare it, right?
I ask because I think I read somewhere that when a team is within those 4 points, any team can declare the All-Out Offensive. Maybe it was in the article, or is in the Rulebook somewhere else, but I'm almmost sure I read it somewhere.
It's what the rulebook says, not what I say that's important
1. Your team MUST have 8 or more CP to declare.
2. You must have it AT THE START of the Strat Phase (so no declaring it as the 2nd assault if the 1st one bumped your team up to 8).
3. You declare it INSTEAD of a normal assault.
4. Assaults are declared in order, so on the rare occasion both teams have 8+, it's the team with the lower score (or rebels, if tied) that has the opportunity to declare first.

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one that remembered reading that. I don't remember where it was, but I could've sworn I saw somewhere that, when the other team hits 8+ points, you can declare an AOO to salvage the campaign. But that's definitely not what it says in the rulebook.

If it helps I also thought that was the case for a while. Then I sat down and actually read through the whole booklet
Thanks guys! I actually somehow misplaced my own rulebook, so while it is in limbo I don't have access to it.

Where are you seeing #1 in the rulebook? The only restriction I can find is on p. 14 that says a team may declare an all-out assault if they are within 4 points of the total needed to win. For a 3 v. 3 campaign that would be at least 8 points, but for a 2 v. 2 it could be as low as 5, right?

Correct.
I'm just assuming we're talking 3x3.
Ah, cool, got it. Just making sure I wasn't missing something.
