Hello. As the title says...

when wanting to get new ships, how do you know if they will be good or not since you can not see the stats of the cards?

Use this site to build lists and when you find one you like. Go buy the ships. There is also a app for android by a different person. Both are excellent.

You can also use the X-Wing Miniatures Wiki to look stuff up (e.g. search by expansion name).

You can't always judge a ship off its stats either. The way you upgrade certain ships can make them more competitive or stronger than their stats may suggest.

There are a lot of cards to scroll through, but don't let it intimidate you. It's really all about flying different ships until you get the hang of it.

Honestly I would start with ships that are just cool (appearance or from Films etc).... worry about how good things are later.

First thing I got after core game was Darth Vader in his tie advanced :-).

Else look around on Youtube or here for comments to get a feel of what is considered good and those squad builder links are very good for details / options.

My local game store was holding the game for me. Before I went to the counter, I grabed the TIE Interceptor. Love the way that ship looks. I even bought the $100 Lego kit years ago.
