Runewars Demo'd in Cannes

Love the base flocking on that mini. I'm planning something similar with my Daqan with some yellowish grass flocking. I haven't decided if I want to make it look like a farm field or not, I think that would be too time-consuming and not look right on the base.

Was really hoping for more information out of this.

how is that done? ive never tried to do realistic (ish) looking grass like that. is that just that grassy flock but not clumped tightly?

Basically.

Its how you do it in model railroads, anyway... Spray your Glue to the contact surface (such as watered down PVA or similar)... Sift and shake on the grass, making sure its not overly clumpy... Wait to Dry, Tap off... Apply spot Glue to any rough patches and repeat as neccessary.

A search on how to apply grass flock to a train layout will show the basics :)

But specifically this long grass, where they have gotten it to lay so nicely and evenly and directionally. It is a very nice technique without using grass sheeting. It's easy to just dump flock on a base, or add tufts and clumps, but how to get it so nicely together?

i don't know what exactly those pictured did, but the same or very similar effect can be achieved by sifting the static grass beforehand (no clumping), applying slightly watered down pva glue, and then tapping the base while it is upside down to get the grass to stand up as much as possible.

edit - also, it helps to apply a spray on varnish afterwards to seal the grass and add some rigidity to it. Helps to keep it from becoming squished down with handling.
