CC Imperial players

By Darth Sanguis, in Star Wars: Armada

So I finally scanned my own copy of the CC rulebook and having the opportunity to finally get a solid read through I just discovered the special assault for Imperial players. Am I correct in my math? Do they really give you 120 resource points just for blowing up two unarmed bases and winning the match?

Is it legal to do a show of force round 1?

Is the Rebel version harder or easier?

You can do a show of force every round of the game if you like.

Destroying both bases AND winning the game is harder than just winning a game because you must divert 20 damage to the bases instead of the enemy.

The Rebel mission Hyperlane Raid is more difficult than Show of Force.

I am sorry to say, You certainly havn't perused some of the other CC topics here....

1) Yes, however, taht 120 is added to the pool to be split to the team (at 40 each)

2) Yes, if it is your side's one assault that turn, and you have an available system to do it in (as you can;t do it on hyperlanes or in corellia itself)

3) The Rebel mission is considered to be much more difficult, as Show of Force requires you to do 10 damage to the Stations without shields, defense tokens, etc, to get that +40 resource.... Can do it twice for +80 in total, and then throw the game to run away, never having shot at the enemy.... But the rebel player in their hyperlane raid are forced to fire at the enemys combat vessels - hardened with shields, tokens, repair commands, etc - in order to score twenty resources for a kill, up to 4 times. this being said, there are arguments that the "reward" for doing so is greater as you are more likely to win , but I honestly - personally - don't ascribe to that. ("If you run 100 meters in 2 minutes, I'll buy you a coffee" vs "If you run 100 meters in 6 seconds I'll give you twenty million dollars... " - the reward for doing better is greater, but it still doesn't mean its proportionally easier to do :D )

4) I stuck an alternate version of the Hyperlane raid in the OP Sub-Forum. Still waiting for an option to actually test it.

Yeah I really haven't paid too much attention to CC posts. My 1st CC event, which is completely buggered because no one knew the rules when we started (which is also STILL waiting to be concluded because of scheduling issues), has been nothing but frustrating... I keep getting paired against the best player in our group and only barely managing to win by margins of 3-4 points. If I'd have known about show of force, I could have used it 2 times now and just decked out our fleets.....

My fleet is 5 ships strong and does a ton of damage long range and has a full wing of relay activated bombers.....

If we get another CC event going.... I know what I'm doing....

It's pretty important to know the rules of a game you are playing. :o

If you're winning by only a 1-point margin that's good enough for CC. A victory is a victory!

Build your base and expand the Imperial economy. :)

I mean sure, you can as an Imperial show up, load 20 damage into the stations- probably two solid turns of shooting, and being shot at- and hope they dont nickle and dime your squadron support enough to close the gap from 80/40 resource gain to something more like 50/40.

As it is, it requires imperials and rebels to each do the things they really dont want to do- the imperials have to fire at things that are *not* rebel ships, giving those same ships relatively free reign to engage from more vulnerable arcs/ the rebels have to engage to score, which means they cant ignore the best ships in the imperial force.

It also seems to ignore that when the rebels score resources they arent just also more likely to win- theyre actively costing the imperial player resources, win or lose. As a rebel if you pop a Vic 1 youve taken out almost as much as the scenario gives them for winning (and that player isnt getting all of it either). Take out their squadrons while you are at it and youve likely overwhelmed their refit points even with a repair yard or two.
