D1: The Mighty Duck

By Mitchpike, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi Everyone,

I started just before Christmas and have been having a blast flying rebels and thought it was about time to run an Imp list. Big fan of Turrets and dodgers. Let me know if you think this will be competitive.

Rear Admiral Chiraneau — VT-49 Decimator 46
Expose 4
Gunner 5
Moff Jerjerrod 2
Proximity Mines 3
Engine Upgrade 4
Dauntless 2
Ship Total: 66
Carnor Jax — TIE Interceptor 26
Push the Limit 3
Autothrusters 2
Stealth Device 3
Royal Guard TIE 0
Ship Total: 34

Would drop the title, expose, and jerjerrod for expertise and hot shot copilot. Otherwise it seems fine.

I'm of the opinion that both of those are overloaded, in the wrong ways.

Jerjerrod is generally considered to be crap, especially because there are no crew you want to sacrifice to him. You'll get far more mileage out of the (more expensive) Ysanne Isard. Drop Dauntless to make room for her.

Expose, engine upgrade, and Prox mines all have conflicting desires for your action; if I were you, I'd drop the prox mines and and Expose for PtL and Hot Shot Copilot. (Or Expertise instead of Expose, and keep the mines if you want more punch).

This allows you to PtL off of Ysanne during the combat phase, making you a pretty dodgy guy, especially with the guaranteed evade each round. Hot Shot Copilot allows you to perform a devastating double tap that also really boosts Carnor's survivability, enabling him to keep Stealth Device. Or, you can just change it for Hull Upgrade.

That's just my five cents though

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the tips. I see what you mean about Jerjerrod. I also didn't really understand how good HSC(hotshot Co-Pilot) was until i looked it up, the ability to force an opponent to spend a focus token even when it wont make a difference and then follow up with gunner is great.

Here's my modified list. The thought being that i can modify the first roll with predator to ensure HSC wastes the opponents focus and then follow up with gunner. Is are and engine upgrade are there to try to keep it alive and Jax flanks at the edges to try to sneak some shots through on targets without any focus tokens.

Jax typically like to be in the action though, due to his ability. I'd actually see this list being flown the opposite way; RAC out there on the edges with his turret taking pot shots, and Jax in there mucking up any remaining focus with his ability. Effectively locks down the focus action for all of the opposing ships in that way. But take it for a few spins, and see how it flies for you.
