I know the Upsilon isn't showing up huge in the Meta in the recent events (as I have read), but I just saw....

yeah baffle is really good for the shuttle.

Not the end, but that Kyle D from Iowa was really good with them! Three T70's. Ouchtown, population my imperials dude!

There's a lot of great system upgrades that have synergy with it, but don't forget Electronic Baffle. This thing has health for days, and being able to insta-shred stress can be a godsend. Especially if you want to stay parked.

Where the hell did that ninja come from?!

Coordinate is the one thing, besides the 2-white turn, that has made the most difference in how I build an Aces list with the Spacebat. You don't want a PtL user, because they can't benefit from coordinate. Much better would be O'Leader or Vader, or even Critty McCritterface, who rely on actions but don't want to get stressed.

Critty McCritterface. That is the most brilliant name for a pilot I've ever seen. Question is, are we talking Maarek Stele, Rexler Brath, or Omega Ace? 'Cause all three fit the bill, if you ask me

Edit: Nevermind, read a bit further and found what is probably the answer to my question. But I still say all three fit the bill. Half tempted to see if I can make a squad with all three now...

I would like to hear more about this triple X list, do you remember at least the pilots?

Pattern Analyzer, Palp, System Officer(with Striden Pilot) & Engine Upgrade/Collision Detector are some of my favorite upgrades. PA/EU/CD allow for a wide range of maneuverability (take all debris & leap onto them for rg1 5 die attacks) and action economy. System Officer makes Strikers & Interceptors dice re-rolling fools. Kylo pilot add some deterrence to attacking the new Palp shuttle but suffers from his ability jumping around to the latest 'first attacker'. Lt Dormitz allows for a pretty crazy first blood strike from tokened up aces with a coordinate action granted to one of them. Starkillerbase gives economy that allows you to put extra's on Upsilon that are priced out of other pilots, however predator TLT and such become annoying. Striden is a great synergizing support vessel.

You can play like a parked Lambda then decide to leap into the fray and opponent suddenly realizes they're taking some serious damage and you won't burn down anywhere near as fast as a lambda.

I love the Upsilon!

Yeah I hear Striden Systems officer is a cool thing.

Guys, Pattern analyzer or baffle? It feels like baffle is more effective in a pinch.

Baffle sadly lets' you not get FCS.

Anyone played with Ints with Striden and System for TL?

It feels like the Ups just doesn't let you take two other strong aces. mmmff.

It's a bad mamma jamma. It almost doesn't need two high end aces.

It feels like everyone is still sorting out what to do with it. For me...Dormitz with title and palp, whisper and wampa are a really good squad. And by really good I mean a lot of fun and plenty solid enough to win games.

With Recon Spec/Weapon Guidance/Baffle, you dont NEED FCS. A TL just telegraphs your target when you can get a 73% chance of modifying to 4 hits/crits without it.

Did this with a PalpBat, Soontir, and Omega Leader and it was glorious. I could give Soontir 4 actions every round, or I could set up OL's Juke/TL combo on an unsuspecting target all at once. Seriously fun to fly.

@PhantomFO Soontir doesn't take passengers.

I meant putting the Recruit on that fancy newfangled shuttle. It can carry other things besides Palp, you know.

This is true. The second game that stressed out and took out Para-mind-fenn-tani down in flames didn't have Palp on board as the first game did. I know it had title though. It was dolled up to hit and stress, causing bleeding throughout the mind-linked gang.

Requires keeping Fel in Range 1-2, though, which I suppose you're trying to do for Coordinate anyway. I was running Stridan, though, for that sweet range 3 coordination. PtL's flexibility is hard to beat, though.

Besides which, FCS is only good for multipke shots into the same target. Whilst an oopsie can get its nose around, so its Not out the fight after a single pass, it will struggle to chase a specific target. Taking shots as they come is more useful.

Besides, with a 4 dice primary, they shouldnt need to many shots into one target!

Would also love to hear the X wing list...

Pattern Analyser. ALl the way - but only if you can afford it.

Rage/Recruit/PA is NICE.

Poe (PS8) w/ Adaptability, R5-P9, Pattern Analyzer, AT

Nien w/ Snap Shot, R3-A2, Black One, Integrated

Jess w/ Snap Shot, R2-D6, Integrated

This list ended up making the cut in 3 different regionals. I have played with it a few games and it is a solid list. The key is getting into Range 1 and staying there.

I fly mine with vi/FCS/pa QuickDraw, and the inquisitor with score to settle, title, and thrusters.

qd is effectively a mini dengar, just pumping attacks until you cut his wick, and the inquisitor is a 4 health missile you throw at the priority target, and hope to scratch some crits across. Backed by the evade and palp, he can definitely dodge 2 hits per round, and a debt to pay only affects a quarter of his total health. And he's a tidy 28, to go with my palp/collision detector ups.

But yeah, something that you have to do is play the UPS aggressive as all hell. You can't sit back and affect the game from a distance the way a lambda can, and those 4 red dice create a huge no no zone for even dodgy aces like Fenn and low health tanks like miranda. No one wants 4 dice their way, even regen.

it's worth noting however that with good mods 4 dice even at range 3 are a big threat.

Rage/Recruit/PA Kylo in particular is likely to pump 4 hits at r3.

I've been flying it a bit lately, though I use M9-G8 on Jess. I don't find snap shot alone worth it without something else like Nien's stress or an Ops Spec handing out focus. M9-G8 helps by giving either of the other 2 some extra offense or against a list with a single large threat help cut its offense a bit.

Strat wise on the approach you want them to shoot at Jess or Poe at range 3. Jess because with the rerolls she's relatively tanky and Poe since he can just regen it back. Nien is a glass cannon and annoying so everyone will target him first, hold him back. The obvious move is to sprint him into range 1 but everyone is expecting it so it's often better to slow roll him in just handing out a single stress, they still have to play around him suddenly darting in. Once he's in knife fighting range no one ever expects the stress free T-roll so that gives him a little bit of survivability and it's very good at playing around the predictable defender K turns. In my experience it's weak against Dengaroo though. Dengar doesn't care about the Nien stress and a double tap can almost evaporate one of them, though M9-G8 does help in that matchup. I'm sure Kyle has more insight since he's played it much more.

I've really been trying to unlock the Dor...mitz with Hyperwave Comm Scanner.

Something about being able to pitch a threat into my opponent's face turn one and deal tons of damage to whatever high-threat ship might be able to defeat my endgame piece appeals to me; right now I'm using Rage/Baffles Quickdraw as that threat. Giving her an Evade or second Focus to either mitigate return fire or deal more damage is interesting to say the least.

The two together bare-bones leaves 37 points left; that's a lot for a high-end ace and some upgrades on the UPS, or go for the classic Omega Leader and have 11 points for the shuttle. Engine Upgrade to help it move even less like a whale... and what else?

Hm. I don't know the ruling. If I put two HCS on Dormitz, do they both trigger independently - meaning I can for one extra point give QD a double Evade? Not saying I'd want to do that, but...

I think Coordinate was largely underestimated. It's freakin insane.

It could be good but the thing is they limited it as range 1-2 (why because the GR-75 came out first and they wanted to make cargo upgrades and titles useful).

However it can be good with boost/barrel roll/dare devil. I was able to coordinate daredevil on a Decimator to get it to do some crazy maneuvering around a rock (then rolled double crits because I had Ion pulse instead of EU). The biggest thing is that it doesn't give actions. It is very much like squad leader but works better on low pilot skill where squad leader has more range but works for higher pilot skill.

Still if there was either a crew upgrade that extends coordinate or gives you an extra action after coordinate (without stress) then it would be much better.

My 3 Ups squad murdered a pair of Brobots on turn 2. It was the fastest game I have ever seen.

Now I did have great rolls and my friend had some subpar ones, and I don't think the squad would be able to handle a lot of lists, particularly highly maneuverable squads, but the ship itself can be pretty menacing.

I'll be flying upsilon for the first time tonight. I feel that there is lots of new tricks to try with the shuttle and not worried about it one bit. A few lists I made, complete with Kylo's cheesy lines:

1. I'll Show you the shenanigans - a.k.a Soontir does 5 actions a round and ends up stressless.

Major Stridan + FCS + Systems Officer + Hyperwave Comm Scanner (discard to 99 pts) + Kylo Ren's Shuttle

Omega Leader + Juke + Comm Relay

Soontir Fel + Push the limit + Royal Guard Tie + Autothrusters + Stealth Device

2. I'll Show you the Force Choke - a.k.a. Present Kylo to the fray and let Oicunn pummels everyone to death.

Kylo Ren + Expert Handling + FCS + Inspiring Recruit + Pattern Analyzer + Kylo Ren's Shuttle

Captain Oicunn + Trick Shot + General Hux + Darth Vader + Gunner + Dauntless

3. I'll Show you the Salvo - a.k.a Rhymer shoots fireworks and everybody celebrates new year.

Starkiller Base Pilot + FCS + Weapons Engineer, Targeting Synchronizer + Pattern Analyzer

Major Rhymer + VI + Extra Munitions + Advanced Proton Torpedoes + Long Range Scanners

Deathfire + Extra Munitions + Proximity Mines + Plasma Torpedoes + Guidance Chips

4. I'll Show you the diceless side - a.k.a the only dice that matters is kylo's

Kylo Ren + Swarm Leader + FCS + Emperor Palpatine + Pattern Analyzer + Kylo Ren's Shuttle

Wampa

Lieutenant Colzet + TIE/X1 + Fire Control System

Academy Pilot
