Are triple T70's viable?

By MonkeyInSpace, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I tend to drop Black One unless I have Poe. PS 9 and an initiative bid is relevant for removing TLs.

Because this thread must continue to live! I was trying to think how to stay nimble while not sacrificing the punch we've seen from other T-70 lists. R7-T-1 is probably fairly "meh" on Jess.

Nien Nunb (29)
Stay On Target (2)
BB-8 (2)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Black One (1)

Jess Pava (25)
R7-T1 (3)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)

"Snap" Wexley (28)
Wired (1)
R3-A2 (2)
Primed Thrusters (1)
Autothrusters (2)

Total: 100

I'm not going to be able to go to the monthly store tournament tonight, which is a drag. I really wanted to get some games in.

I was wondering whether to take BB-8 SOT Nein or Targeting Astromech SOT Nein.

A fella was flying triple T70s at the PTL Open this weekend, on video. Great match where both players were flying well. I think this is the first time I've come to see the full power of Nien Numb with Stay on Target.

Finally got around to watching this, very cool.

I guess BB-8 Nien lets you be more maneuverable, but Targeting astro gives you more damage. both seem fine, so i guess it's just whatever you have more faith in: your dice or your maneuvering.

Also can I take a moment to bring up just how crazy good pattern analyzer is? like primed thrusters is nice but if you have the points please take a pattern analyzer.

Love it. I think that more than anything has made T-70s viable.

Primed thrusters are nice for a T-70 with R3-A2 but otherwise, yeah. They're just PA's little brother.

As far as BB-8 and targeting, I haven't tried the targeting astro, but I'm glad I chose BB-8 when wrestling with the same question. You don't necessarily use SoT every turn given the positions of ships so unless you're already pulling a red maneuver, the droid has no use either. BB-8 can be used even when you're not in position to SoT.

I really like PT on a T-70 with BB-8, particularly Snap. PA, though...bring your debris clouds and fly where ever you want!

I used PT on snap stress Nein a few times. It was mildly useful.

So I went 3-0 to win our weekly store tournament with this list. It was fun -- Red Ace was nigh unkillable, and Nien's Stay on Target shenanigans went off about three times per game, plus one or two normal red maneuvers.

I'm not sure if it is better than my Poe-Red Ace-Jess double regen list (currently 6-3 vice 3-0 with Nien); I'll have to play this more.

Last night on Vassal tried BB-8 SOT B1 Nien with SOT targeting Astromech Snap and M9-G8 Jess, every one had PA.

I wound up winning but I prefer Snap shot Nien better. The number of times I wanted to change my dial was not that often. It's a neat ability especially on BB-8 Nien. BB-8 and B1 should be stapled together. I shed TLs every round (K4 security droid AND weapons engineer).

I love flying my T-70s!

Okay, How about this, lets try to get some alpha strike in here

2 Red Squad Vets and Snap

Vets are armed with wired, PA, Autothrusters and Targeting Astromech (yea you heard me)

+Snap with with the same thing except for Primed thrusters instead

If you like a Red Vet, try Wired + R3-A2 + IA/AT. I call it the SuperStressX -- really tanky with the rerolls on both offense and defense.

Made 2nd at a 14 player store championship with Nien, Snap and Jess. Won against Dengar/Tel, Rau Boats and a Han/Luke list before losing to 2 K4 torp boats and Torkil Mux. Generally got outplayed in the last match, but I also forgot a couple of Black One and R3-A2 triggers that could have possibly swung the match in my favour. Regardless, I was really happy with how the list performed and I think I'm going to keep practising with it for the next local store champs in July. #3-70

BB8 + Intensity for a focus and an evade.

:o That's AMAZING! I was still thinking of my generic TIE interceptors, but Snap Wexley will LOVE this!!!

Holy crap. Snap and Jake are really going to dig this.

So, Poe with BB8, Intensity, Black One, Integrated Astro and Primed Thrusters?

Seems decent for a budget Poe?

Yes, 100% yes!

I suppose so. It's only one point cheaper than the BB-8 Poe I always run...unless you're taking PS 8 Poe, but I prefer PS 9.

Jess in my squad with Snap and PtL Poe would also like to have R2-D6 + Intensity so she can keep up with her swift squadmates, but I'm hesitant to lose M9-G8.

I must say, this card is why I'll buy one copy of that dumb aggressor. I LOVE the idea of an evade with a T-70.

If the squadmates are getting mods then M9-G8 loses utility IMHO.

I tend to agree, but last game my opponent used M9-G8 against me to lock on to and modify my attacks, and it was brutal. I think the droid still has utility there, which makes it a tougher decision.

But since I'm not buying 3 TIE Aggressors, then the decision is actually pretty easy.

This feels like the final push BB-8 Poe needed to be a powerhouse.

Ps8 (31)
Black One (1)
BB-8 (2)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Intensity (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)
Is only 38 points, with Ps9 a flat 40. being able to take 3 actions a turn, plus giving you the ability to evade, all while making you less dependent on greens? Sign me up. you can t-roll, PA for a boost and get a free focus. life is good.

The only challenge will be flipping the Exhausted side over. I think this might make a strong argument for T-70's to actually make a firing pass, fly through and reset, specially Snap. People in other threads are acting like you're hosed the next turn. I don't know about you guys, but I find myself in plenty of situations with T-70's where I'd rather 4-straight out of dodge after a pass and come back around to reset.
