Need help with multi-story building "dungeon"

By kingpin000, in Game Masters

Hi there,

in my head stucks an adventure idea. There is a bounty hunter on Coruscant who captures an ally of the PCs and fortifies himself with his quarry on the top floor. The building is a district office of the bounty hunter guild. So there is a building full of bounty hunters and they got some time to prepare before the PCs storm the building. At this point I need some advices...

Thanks in advance!

I would say "Dredd"!

Then you'll need at least 3 E-Web Heavy Repeating Blaster Cannons for starters :D

The questions are:

How many and what kind of encounter should I create? Not just shootouts but traps and obstacles...

How do I explain that the PCs can't reach the top floor with lift in the lobby?

Could I rise the tension with a count down? (until the bounty hunter gets an air ride to disappear)

Maybe once they're in there they're approached by a rival of the the bounty Hunter who is holding their friend. He'd love to see the guy bought down a peg or 2... As long as there's no come back on him. He's therefore willing to help with shortcuts (through air vents etc) and/or codes to access areas that are locked down. Also provides a chance for a little role-playing!

If the Bounty Hunter knows the characters are coming after his captive he has the top floors locked down... Only allowing lift access to a certain level in the tower.

I've used this in a previous adventure, I set a timer on my phone and use a D6... Every time the timer goes off I turn the dice to the next number... If it gets to 6 they're outta time. My players asked what I was doing so I told them nit to worry about it... Needless to say they worried a lot & it really upped the urgency of there actions!

Maybe the successes of the social character could generate some kind of extra temporary destiny points which could only downgrade the difficulty of checks within the complex. What do you think?

I'm not sure I'd give Destiny Points, they are quite powerful but maybe do the same thing in a narrative way... The ally the players have made will have associates in there & the players knowing him might stand them in good stead when dealing them. And... It gives the players a chance to get past an encounter without a fight. I'd be adding boost dice for the players for that social encounter definitely.

Your game tho so if u want to give them Destiny then that's cool as well!

Maybe Destiny Point was the wrong word. More like temporary Advantage Points...

Yep that would do it... A few blue dice to give them an edge :)
