If Imperials got a small based turret primary/secondary ship...

By Warlon, in X-Wing

What stats would it have? What would it's dial be like? What pilots/abilities would there be?

I'm pretty sure this has been brought up before, but it's midnight, I'm bored, and just finished a store tournament not too long ago.

To be honest, I would like something that has a reverse version of the YV-666's firing arc, where it covers the back area of the base and has a regular front facing firing arc. Maybe make it so it has a title that lets it equip a turret but only shoot it out of the primary or auxiliary firing arc.

(This is based on the TIE that looks like an advanced but has a turret on the back and the upper half of the back of the wings taken off, I can't remember the name)

I just want Rebels and Scum to truly FEEL how annoying TLT is.

Punisher Title to get rid of some of its current upgrade options and then add a Turret in their stead. No EPT Turret small base carrier. TOO CRAZY?

Uh, well, yeah, a little.

Considering that no such Imperial ship exists. How does a heavy bomber tooled exclusively to fire ordnance suddenly get a turret when there's no recorded sighting of a punisher with a turret having ever existed?

'Sides. Not like you need turrets anyways.

Uhhh by adding a Title Card that says "Turret Punisher. Remove heavy bomber tooling from your upgrades and add a turret instead," because it's a game

What would you do instead if you were to actually answer OP's question?

PWT are not the big bad beasts now that TLTs are out.

If anything the Imperials need a ship with the turret upgrade slot. It doesn't have to be a TIE variant.

TIE/AG, actually has a turret in back, can just suck and not have EPTs like Rebel Ys or just get over the fear of Ruthlessness. Actually has basis in the lore and not something LFL will look at FFG crosswise for making up for no reason.

Turreted Imperial ship? Sounds like the Skipray although I know the Scum also use the ship. I guess it may not be small based however...

I'm sure one of those experimental TIE Fighters had turrets but other than those I'm really drawing a blank when it comes to fighter sized ships that could/should have a turret.

In any case TLT plus Ruthlessness would be EXTREMELY disruptive. Now you're looking at 4 damage from that every turn that could land on three different ships.

TIE Aggressor?

Jonus is going to keep this from happening.

Definitely the TIE Aggressor. Currently my most wanted ship for this game.

The one in the FFG sourcebook "Stay On Target" is basically just a TIE Advanced with a turret instead of shields/hyperdrive/missiles.

I'd like to see the Skipray done like the KWing, squeezed on to a small base. It's wing span has to be roughly a Skiprays length.

That actually looks reasonable.

TLT would make them 20 points each, so at most you could get 5, but they'd pop if you so much as look at them with only that 3 health.

It may have 3 health but it's also got that 3 agility.

It looks like a TIE Fighter title that costs 2 points but allows you to gain a turret upgrade slot.

Raider-class ship on the scopes, Captain. FFG has done some crazy stuff with this game.

"You cannot equip a [turret] upgrade costing 6 points or more."

You just know it.

I also imaged that it would have the Advanced's slightly crappier dial.

That would be particularly infuriating given that a twin laser turret is the thing Aggressors ACTUALLY come equipped with.

Though I suppose it could also qualify as a Dorsal Turret.

I would like to see the Agressor too and since FFG have a picture from his LCG game we have a chance to see him.

Reading the wookie article the ship is similar to the y-wing with no shield, he have missile and a turret. I think a hybrid advanced/bomber should be good.

PS 2

Atk : 2

Agi : 2

Hull : 6

Shield : 0

Actions : Focus, Lock, Barrel Roll

Upgrades slots : Turret (x1), Missile (x1)

Cost : 18 pts

Dial : Same from the tie advanced

Yeah, the Aggressor was the Y-Wing equivalent in Galaxies, so a turreted ship which could carry heavier loadout. It might only need the one missile slot rather than two like the Y-Wing has for torps - it can't EM and missile are bloody expensive, but the Advanced is likewise. I'd say 3/4 hull, focus/lock/roll and then they can be a cheap turret carrier or missile carrier but still be flimsy enough that they pop under the usual anti-Imperial moves. One of the pilots can have a cool ability like Kavil which rewards firing out of arc.

Outside of SWG though, the Aggressor is nothing like a Y-Wing. It only has Shields and Missiles in that game because you can customize the ship however you want, just like you can every other ship in that game.

I'd probably keep the lowest PS at PS1, just because that's an imperial thing, drop it's hull down to 5, and finally, drop the points down to 15, because then you can still only run 4 with TLT, but you could do 5 with lesser turrets.

Maybe give it a system slot, just to offset it a bit more from other small turrets

The dial, though, I'm not super sure on, I think it should be less maneuverable than a Tie advanced, but more maneuverable than a Y-wing. so a weird compromise between the two

ehh...if you gave it a system slot we'd just have small base ships darting around with Autoturrets and ACs. Only instead of 1 Ghost doing it, its 2-3 small ships.

Turret-slot ships should not have a system slot just because of that. Yeah they'd be a lot easier to take down than a Ghost but behind 2-3 agility theyre still going to last long enough to auto-evaporate whatever dodgy ship you got.

I think you're pretty on track with that stat line, being that the TIE Agressor is supposedly a comparable fighter to the y-wing. As such I would like to direct you to a very similar statline/upgradebar/dial already released on another ship. That ship getting the in game specs it did makes so much more sense when I think of it as a stand in for the TIE/ag.

As much as I don't like making a tri-faction ship. The Imeprials could get the clone wars Y-wing now that the Prequels have been opened up for picking for ships.

It would solve the whole upgrade deficit Imperials have with no turret upgrade slot after the ever so meta changing TLTs. Say what you want it was only three waves until they got a PWT ship when that was the rebel meta. We are heading now into Wave 11 and imperials have nothing that can take TLTs. Also for the Astromech well an Imperial Astromech upgrade type can be easily made. There is plenty of source material for Imperial Astromech. You can also make it 4 unique pilots that will cost just out of range of a 3-4 TLT list if you are worried about more TLT spam. Looks like it also comes with a crew slot if you want to make it more distinctive than rebel and Scum beside different model, pilots, and astromech slot.

Most specialized imperial ship have PS2, it's safe to kept this value. If the generic cost 15 pts , here's what I can do for 20 pts

Tie agressor : 15 pts

Turret dorsal : 3 pts

Lightweight Frame : 2 pts

Total : 20 pts

Could be broken in epic game, fun for casual 100 pts games

A dial close to the tie/sf, same statline but without shield. Should be good too !

@Arkanta974 yep, just toss a converted TIE/ag model on the base and ignore the tech slot. Not perfect, but pretty good :)

Also, @Marinealver make it a "Refurbished depot" pack with an imperial ARC! People might complain about prequel creep: what's next, a Venator for Armada? (please!)
