Nothing I put over rides the costs so you'd still have to pay for those sqns..... can you put 51 z95 sqns in 133 points now?

or to put it another way.. pay 5 points and limit your self to a single named character

Oh, I read " allows the unlimited recruitment of none unique officers and sqns" to mean that you were removing the limits on the number of points that could be spent on squadrons.

10 points all each of your ships start the game with one command token in place.

0 points two of your ships get deployed on the start of 2nd turn center of your deployment zone

To connect this to the squadronless debates: How many negative points should an admiral be that reads: You are not allowed to spend fleet points to buy squadrons.

-50? More or less? What would you guys think?

I'd take that commander. No squads but I get a free Flechette Raider? Sounds good to me. Or 2 Assault Gozantis. Or another TRC90.

+17 Its not a limitation to some of us.

I agree to the thought that squadronless is possible and fun, but then I do not play competitively and take what works and brings me joy in a casual game. How far can you actually go in a tournament environment?

And keep in mind, @Ginkapo, that the opportunity cost is not to have an awesome admiral, so maybe you do not really want to pay almost as much as for Dodonna...

The question is what amount of additional points would get the majority of players to actually consider going squadronless?

Irrelevant to me, and a question I distinctly and severely hope never gets answered. Ever. #DeathOfArmadaAsWeKnowIt.

Certainly nobody wants to actually go back to square - make that wave one. I see it more as a thought experiment.

You are smashing hopes in the rules forum on a regular basis anyway, you can easily have some balancing in there... :P

Balance? I'm not a Grey, here...

You can win regionals with squadronless builds. I know of two that did it.

You will see how much i value Dodonna. 3pts above base

It's going to happen and you can't stop it. SSD is inevitable.
