Scratch build Hammer Head Corvette

By Decan Mabu, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Here I am again...

this time with a new epic star ship, I had decided to build a hammer head Corvette, based on the pictures and diagrams obtained on the star wars Rebels and Rogue one pictures.

Here attached are some pictures

I had also prepared some diagrams and blueprints in order to prepare the kit

Hope You will enjoy with them.

Very cool, Antonio! What scale are you using? Is it ffg's epic scale (1/270 if I'm not mistaken)?

Also interested in what scale you've chosen - my 3d-print one was sized to try and fit with some of the Rebels artwork where it appears with the CR-90, which means something smaller than 1/270...

Yes, that's right, the scale is 1/270.

...even trough the kit is little smaller than the FFG CR90 corellian Corvette (but not for too much).

I spected the size of the hammerhead corvette is about 100 meters.

Calculating the size comparing with other CR90 and even the VCX you can spect a size around 100 meters, the size of the kit is 28.5 cm if you want I can make a picture with a ruler to help you on this.

I also have scale drawings/ blueprints made by miself that may help you on the design with the 3D printer.

The artwork I used for sizing is in the post here: Hammerhead pics

...mine ended up 23cm long, and assumed a scale of about 1/400 - I tend to use the sliding scale that Mel miniatures came up with for some of his larger stuff a while ago, although I know others on here aren't in favour of it ... it gave about 28cm for my DP-20 [1/430] and 27cm for my Consular...

Would really be interested in the drawings, as your panel-work and other details look excellent ;)

The length of the hammerhead is twice the length of the VCX-100 (quite a little bit more...) you can see this on several pictures from rebels (landed on the Chopper rebel base...) the VCX-100 has a length of 44 meters, that's means a length for the hammerhead around 100 meters, indeed, I used the VCX-100 from X wing to make aproximately the dimensions, so I could make it at 1/270 scale, the same scale as the Gozanti cruiser.

Detailing is looking excellent...are you going to make it a long [like the CR-90/Raider] or short [Transport/Goz] base model ? ...and what are you using for base-mounting points [I found using the bottom of a large peg didn't work too well on my container freighter - not enough glue surface - so will try and inset future ones]

Can't wait to seem more!

Noticed you asked in another thread about posting images - if you right-click on your Pinterest image and copy the image address, and then paste it directly in your post here, it should display ok [the address just needs to end in ".jpg"]

Cheers ;)

Cool model and also exciting is if the size of this ship is 100m this will be the first Rebel huge ship to the standard 1:270 scale. The only huge ships currently to scale are the Gozanti and C-ROC.

Hi.

my next Ship should be an Imperial light cruiser (arquitens) as you can se on the below picture.

http://pin.it/UmM8xhx.jpg

...But first of all I have to finish this one, and now is about time to paint it...

keep you informed about this

regarding the base mounting points, last time I used the big ship mounting base you can purchase from FFG but it was for a big ship, not a huge one, so I suppose I'm going to prepare a mounting base point with light wood, hardening it once finished with glue, the connection point with the ship might be in plastic embedded on the mounting base point.

Yes it is, it has been made on 1/270 scale, the same scale as the big and small X wing ships.

That will be something to see...MacrossVF1 on here has just finished building his second, but I've yet to get around to doing a 3d-print of one, although I have the files waiting [split into 8 parts] - but recently found what may be a better model, so will perhaps be redoing them!

Hi

Now I had started to paint it...

What was the timeframe for finishing this from start to finish? Looks awesome!
