Zuckuss and C-3P0

By gennataos, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I'm pretty sure I have this down, I just want to make sure...

Situation 1: Party bus attacks Norra...gets X amount of hits. I guess 0 evades. I get 1 evade. From what I've read, C-3PO procs before dice are modified, which means my opponent can safely Zuckuss that evade and C-3PO can't do anything about it because he's already resolved his ability. Is that correct?

Situation 2: Party bus attacks Norra...gets X amount of hits. I guess 0 evades. I get 0 evades, so I gain an evade result from C-3PO's ability. My opponent can safely Zuckuss that new evade and C-3PO can't do anything about it because he's already resolved his ability. Is that correct?

Can you reroll an addes result?

C-3PO always happens before Zuckuss (crew).

Normally, adding a result is after your opponent has already modified your dice so they cannot modify that result. So if Norra uses her ability to add a focus result, Zuckuss cannot re-roll it since it was added after Zuckuss's opportunity to affect the roll.

C-3PO is an exception to that rule because he adds a result before your opponent can modify your dice.

Yeah..that's the combo of Rey/Finn...shot at, Rey rolls her evade dice, Finn adds blank, Rey re-rolls up to two blanks. Normally, though, the defender wouldn't modify their dice until after Zuckuss does his thing. In C-3PO's case, he adds a dice before any dice modification...which is why I figure Zuckuss would work.

That's the way I read it as well. Thanks!

Yes, you can modify an added result, otherwise Finn adding a blank result would be utterly pointless. And at 5 squad points, why else would anyone take him if he was adding a blank result that couldn't be modified?

I never thought of c3p0 adding an actual die, to be honest.

All things that add 'Results' are adding dice. Be it Finn, AC (after cancelling all other results), Backdraft, Threepio, or even an Evade token. Dice are the only things, in the game, that can have results on them.

You sure? I would think you could guess for C-3PO if you haven't used it yet and your opponent makes you Zuckuss one or more dice. I can use C-3PO for literally any green die you roll. Of course, if you initially don't guess and roll a blank, then your C-3PO doesn't get to be used anyway, so either way you have about the same chance to keep your evade result.

Rerolls are not rolls. C-3PO cannot trigger on a reroll.

If that is true, which it sounds like it should be even without looking through the rules, then yeah, I guess 3PO always gets the shaft from Zuckuss.

It was confirmed by a rules question email a while back IIRC - but it's also supported by the fact that rerolls with HLCs can crit.

Rolls != rerolls is also in the most recent FAQ.

Does an effect that triggers when rolling dice trigger when
rerolling dice?
A: No. Rolling dice and rerolling dice are different game effects.

by reading the C-3PO card and looking at FAq, there is nothing that says C-3P0 can not be used on the reroll after Zuckuss.

C-3P0: Once per round before you roll 1 or more dice
