Rebels X-Wing 101 article is up.

By Razgriz25thinf, in X-Wing

the cool thing is that 2 of the most useful things for Rebels is from the original core set. the bad thing is that the 2 best things for rebels is from the original core set...

And for those who started late, the K-Wing is out of print!

On the whole, though, I think the list makes a lot of sense. I bought the TFA core because a friend was going to trade Star Viper for the Rebel portion of the set, and I never bothered to get the Core set, settling for picking up a second set of dice. As I've gone beyond Scum, I am wishing for that Core set and a K-wing.

Moving on from what the article poses, because the author has definitely said a good deal about it. The Miranda and two T-70s was particularly cool.

Not a fan of that (first) Mirranda & Rey build, bombs and no Sabine? But I guess thats the limitation of such 101 build....

They're also not nearly as good as their Imperial counterparts.

The first article was to get someone into a tournament scene for $101 USD. This article says it's for casual fun. That's a big difference.

I challenge YOU to make a list if you only had $101 USD to spend, had to include a Core Set, and you had to use FFG prices.

Huh! I think you mean out of stock. Big difference.

Nand's Rebel lists I think use the available ships and upgrades better then Zach's Imperial lists both show what you can do with a budget of $101, both are a good start and introduction to the game for someone who has no idea where to start and limited in what they can buy but till have a good list that could be both fun and challenging to boot.

Would be interesting to see one of Nand's list's go up against Zach's list see whom would be the victor.

Awaiting Reprint is how FFG puts it, but yeah, I do know the diff and miswrote. However, it's a long way from AR to Shipping Now, so it may as well be OS. Oh, and the Core Set is also Awaiting Reprint!!

I like this XW 101 series so far.

think theres a reason this one omitted mentioning its for the competitive scene. Think i'll take that challenge of finding one for 101USD but off the top of my head thats impossible since so dang many of their ships require a "fix" card from another box (whether its intended to be a fix or not isnt the question)

Found an error.

How does one end up with the original MF title without buying the original Falcon set?

@WWHSD started a great topic in the Squad Building forum entitled X-Wing 101- Community Version . If any of you want to share a squad you came up with that you can afford for just $101, please post it over there so we can continue to grow this collection. I have really enjoyed reading the suggestions that our community members have contributed so far.

Either they fixed it, or I can't see where they mention the original Millennium Falcon title.

It was in the list of components; it's been changed. In the past 47 minutes I would add...

I found an error: they misspelled "Snuggling Compartment".

What I like about the K-Wing is that in addition to it being a good ship with cool pilots, it also has great upgrades for other ships. If you get the K-Wing in your first buy, you can later get a Y-Wing and enjoy both extra munitions and TLT.

If you branch from Rebels into Scum, those two packs + most wanted will get you a pair of TLT carrying Y-Wings, which is a nice starter list for Scum- and also feeds back into some cool upgrades for your Rebel Y-Wing.

I can't wait until they get the K-Wing back on the shelves. :)

You mean that's not a thing?

Weirdly, they spelled"snuggle" with an m.

Nand Torfs has actually played his "favorite Squad for 101 USD" at the XHammer X-Wing Open 2017 tournament.

This list consists of:

  • Miranda Doni, Rey Crew, Plasma Torps, Ion Bombs, Connor Net, Guidance Chips, Extra Munition
  • Jess Pava, M9-G8 Astromech, Pattern Analyzer, Integrated Astromech
  • Biggs Darklighter, Veteran Instincts, R2D6, Integrated Astromech

Final Results: Swiss Rank 17 of 22 participants.

That's not really good, is it? Being the world champion he must be one of the best players in the world, even if he has got a rather bad day.

So I guess, the list pretty much sucks.

I am wondering why though, because this list has got two pilots in it, which are regarded as the most competitive Rebel forces at the moment.

Pretty disappointed in this article tbh, felt the focus on casual play was severely lacking. I'd much have preferred to see discussion on cinematic/epic play, maybe going into what the best expansions are to buy for fun and enjoyable mission building.

Maybe I missed something, but I don't understand why Finn is in the "98 point Man Muscle" list. Perhaps an earlier version of the article used Rebel Han?

I'm sure he felt no pressure at all though, with the entire world watching his performance anyway and much more when he announced beforehand what squad he'd fly :P I know that I'd fly even more horrible under these circumstances than I usually do...
