Whenever I need a creepy soundtrack I use the one from Myst 2: Riven. You can find it on youtube. I highly recommend ![]()
Actually, a guy made an Arkham Horror soundtrack for the Board Game which was pretty awesome. It features 1920s music enhanced with creepy effects.

I keep a copy with my Arkham Horror board game.
I also recommend looking up the HP Lovecraft Historical Society at cthulhulives.org. They sell Radio Plays based on Lovecrafts work that are really high quality and make fine thematic background noise.

This is outstanding!
Id say there is simply only one answer to this question .. Cryo Chamber on Youtube does dark ambient mixes (1 hour 2 hour etc) of Cthulhu inspired lushness

Shoot. His links are down and I would rather download it since we are going to be going on a trip and are bringing the game with us, but putting on youtube might be a challenge since we don't know where we will be all the time.
Did anyone actually get the files before the links went down?

Google youtube converter mp3 - one of those should work. If it doesn't I can try and post my mp3s of it later. ![]()
Oh you all need to go to Tabletopaudio.com if you already haven't. Great ambiance tracks. I always use this for my RPGs. You can que them up in whatever order and quickly switch if the mood changes gameplay wise.

Is that legal? I'm something of a straight shooter =3
Someone on one of the Facebook groups recommended Atrium Carceri. To be honest, when I saw the name I assumed they were a metal band, but I did just check anyway and it turned out they produce really good quality, dark atmospheric music.
Just about all of their albums seem to be appropriate, but 'The Old City' (a videogame sound track) and 'Metropolis' are particular highlights.
Thanks for all the great suggestions everyone. Likes all around to you good people and a heart <3
Darkest of the Hillside Thickets has some fantastic Cthulhu related music. I highly recommend them.
There are several good "dark ambient" music channels on YouTube. We use Cryo Chamber and Iron Cthulhu Apocalypse most of the time.

There is also Azatoth and Nyarlathothep (my favourite)!
I make a playlist mix of:
Hereditary soundtrack
ritual soundtrack
john carpenter soundtracks
lustmord
sixth sense soundtrack
signs sountrack
the ninth gate soundtrack
fringe soundtrack
Don't forget these three jewels! They are classics.
It's probably not for everybody, but we listen to Deadmau5 as we play Arkham.
One of his albums has a song called R'lyeh's Lament. I think the album is called While 1<2.
This album would suit the vibe pretty well... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moss_Side_Story
Also the Hellraiser OST -
Most of the Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross film scores would do too. Including Nine Inch Nails Ghosts i-v
I don't know why everyone is listening to "Dark Ambient music". I put on some 1920's Jazz. Now THAT is real ambient music!
People like to choose their own vibe for when they are playing. I generally play in silence so I can hear all the creaks and groans of my house which is 1920s.

You have a house from the 20's? I wish!

It's a rental. Rental prices here in Adelaide, Australia are quite cheap. $2000 a month for a 1920s 4 bedroom house its quite good.
Just joined to chime in on this topic.
I’ve started building a Spotify playlist that fits the era, mainly pop/jazz hits from various 20’s era crooners like Gene Austin, The Mills Brothers and especially Al Bowlly. It’s not horrific whatsoever, but still a good tone setter. I wasn’t sure if it would work, but it’s a nice contrast to the action of the game - and still feels era-appropriate!
