Is dual MC-80 viable?

By TheToad, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Here's a list I threw together real quick. I want to see what you guys think or can come up with.

Dual mc80
Faction: Rebel Alliance Points: 394/400
Commander: General Dodonna

MC80 Star Cruiser (96 points) - Gunnery Team ( 7 points) - Engine Techs ( 8 points) - Quad Turbolaser Cannons ( 10 points) - XX-9 Turbolasers ( 5 points) - SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points) = 131 total ship cost

[ flagship ] MC80 Command Cruiser(106 points) - General Dodonna ( 20 points) - Home One ( 7 points) - Reinforced Blast Doors ( 5 points) - SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points) = 143 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points) - Bomber Command Center ( 8 points) = 26 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points) = 18 total ship cost

1 Shara Bey ( 17 points) 2 A-Wing Squadrons ( 22 points) 1 Norra Wexley ( 17 points) 2 Y-Wing Squadrons ( 20 points)

I have recently enjoyed running a MC80s + MC80c list. Yours looks good.

Home one is only effecting one ship as the transports can't fire. If you drop it for Defiance and drop QTCs for Mon Karren so the enemy can only spend one defence token it gives you a similar effect for a points saving.

I do prefer ECM over RBDs on Rebel ships. Over the coarse of a game it will save you more than 3 damage.

You have spent the points on BCC so need a few more bombers to make use of it. Upgrade an A-wing for Green Squadron. Maybe think about Shara replaced with Wedge to attract fire with his escort & double brace. He also has a black bomber dice. Still I do like Shara's nasty counter 3+ surprise.

Solid suggestions Mad Cat?

Here's another variation I'm wanting to try...

Dual MC-80
Faction: Rebel Alliance Points: 394/400
Commander: General Madine
Assault Objective: Custom Objective Defense Objective: Custom Objective Navigation Objective: Custom Objective

MC80 Star Cruiser (96 points) - Mon Karren ( 8 points) - Lando Calrissian ( 4 points) - Gunnery Team ( 7 points) - Engine Techs ( 8 points) - XX-9 Turbolasers ( 5 points) - SW 7 Ion Batteries ( 5 points) = 133 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points) = 18 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points) = 18 total ship cost

[ flagship ] MC80 Command Cruiser(106 points) - General Madine ( 30 points) - Defiance ( 5 points) - Tactical Expert ( 6 points) - Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points) - X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points) - Leading Shots ( 4 points) = 164 total ship cost

2 X-Wing Squadrons ( 26 points) 1 Lietenant Blount ( 14 points) 3 Z-95 Headhunter Squadrons ( 21 points)

Having tried to battle these lists with an Imperial MSU, the ability of these things to tank is kinda ludicrous. What is your plan for commanding the squadrons/what is the point of the GR-75s? Comms Net could be a great investment for some down rounds for squadron commands to feed the two capital ships. I would also consider dropping Tactical Expert on Defiance, and relying on your own planning ability for the command dials. With Madine I'd also drop Gunnery Team on the Star Cruiser, and instead gunning for double arcs instead. Otherwise both lists look solid, and I'm certain you'll organically refine these lists as you play them.

Idea? Keep home one, add mon karren to the other mc-80 with an intel officer get your home one acc, add if your quad turbo one and watch as a ship hull falls off.

Strongly disagree here. The whole point of taking these two ships together is getting the Home One/QTT synergy. Have you tried the combo yet? It's very scary to face it with CR90's, flotillas, GSDs, MC30's, Nebulons, Raiders, AF2's, other Liberties. There's not much that doesn't mind eating an ISD front arc with two guaranteed accs in the mix.

Double down, swap XX-9 to XI7, and you'll have 100% defense token control for everything but the Nebulon and the Raider.
