Release date

By Hijodecain, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Hi all, I don't know if this 100% sure but Edge (Spanish distributor for FFG/Asmodee games) has set the release date to the March 24th (Link). Usually FFG release the games on original version at the same time or before than Edge. So one month from now for Spanish people, same or less for English version.

CoolStuffInc, is a local store for us with them listed as releasing at March 2017. So I'm still hoping that maybe we get a notification that it ships next week and we get if 2nd week in March...its a long shot but maybe...maaaaaaaaaaaaybe...

distribuidor español y francés ! Edge is indeed implanted both in Spain and in France. In France they just announced the french version without any date of release. But I don't care, this is an american game designed in english, so I won't play it in a sh*tty translation full of mistakes of any kind. I don't expect the rule book to be totally clean of misunderstandable rules or small mistakes so deciphering it in the orginial language is yet an exercise that doesn't need to be polluted by a translation. I don't know how it goes in spanish, if the translations are good ?

But now yes March 24th is a good new...thanks @Hijodecain

I mean even if the book is written in english its still going to be incoherent at times, lets not get ahead of ourselves...lol

That's what I'm saying : it's already a good exercise to understand the english rule book to not add another difficulty level by reading a translation... And trust me, they maybe have made some progress these last years, but I have experienced french translations of FFG games that were.... oh well worse than the original version. So, since...let's say...Descent II, several years ago, I only buy the original versions of FFG games...

There is still hope in me that it comes to my door the 2nd week of March, I'd love to have two weeks of spring break free to paint my new minis. Otherwise its going to take a while to get them all finished, and I'll need to proxy the ones on my table when I get my friends to try it out. I'm starting construction on a new workbench/paint station this weekend, so that I'm all ready for when these beauties get to their new home.

I would do the same if not most people i played with would prefer german (although they can speak english) and it might probably be a little bit cheaper atleast that is the case for the X-Wing ships.

And although you are right that in most cases the original is better i remember about 2 cases for GW books were the gemran ones already had some mistakes corrected and everyone as thinking those were mistakes until an faq came out for the english ones, that was hilarious.

But that applies more to boardgames than miniature wargames, in many of them yor opponent doesn't have to read your stuff so language is no issue and in the case of GW you get the english books cheaper here.

In the US, there is AdeptiCon where FantasyFlight has Runewars on the schedule as a tournament. That's at the end of March. Really if it's going to happen, it has to ship soon.

Didn't the email go out to say they were cancelled at Adepticon ?

There is nothing currently listed for Runewars on the event page, but FFG is in the vendor's hall, so certainly they should be demoing the game? Perhaps selling some boxed sets at MSRP?

On the subject of rule books:
The past couple of years FFGs rule books have grown from discombobulated mess's to actual functional documents that coherently explain how to play a game. The number 1 problem I tend to see is when people confuse game syntax with plain language, and that really tends to happen with any game.
On Topic:
The lack of updates makes me think they are saving up for the final sprint/flurry of updates that tend to come out prelaunch.

If in Spain it is announced for the 24 of March.
If the translations are good.
It will be either simultaneous or a few days apart with the English version.

Those events were canceled weeks ago

Events for Adepticon were cancelled, but we will be demoing in the vendor hall. Don't know anything about it being sold there, although that would be cool.

Bummer I hadn't seen that.

Well crap that doesn't bode well for a release in March. :-/

The hobby weekend at Beasts Of War is touted as 'Near the launch of the game' and boxed product will be given to participants. that is March 30-April 1. The 24th is a Friday and street dates for most product is Wednesday so my guess is the 22nd, or 29th.

In Spain release dates are always Fridays. Distribution is done over the week and sometimes you are able to pick up on Thursday, but usually on Friday.

That, or they are pacing themselves because they know there is still a long wait ahead...

No, I just can't even consider that option

In NA street dates are always Thursdays. So 23 or 30 seems likely.

@Obscene do we have any idea of PDF rules release? Any chance we can pour over the rules while the flying postal monkeys manhandle our preorders?

They said they would pubilsh it two weeks or so before release. As any actual tester won't probably send them away on the net because of copyrights restrictions, we just have to wait for them...and have a nap meanwhile Zzzzzz.....Zzzzzz.....Zzzzzz....ronfl...

Only FFG knows that but it's standard FFG procedure for new games that they are out about two weeks before release.
