So a good friend is a big TIE Experimental M1 fan. He was lamenting that they have not appeared in X-Wing. And since they are controlled from another ship, it needed a card mechanic. So this is what I came up with: A TIE Controller Crew card that allowed you to field up to 2 TIE Exp. M1's with a few rules on each card. Could be fun in 'homebrew' play. Thought I would share. Feed back welcome.
Sample Squad:
TIE Experimental M1

I suggest you speak with a lawyer about what is needed to have your friend declared insane so that he can get the help he so obviously needs.
Kidding of course, but still the UGLIEST, MOST IDIOTIC LOOKING SPACE SHIP in all of sci fi.
I made something like this a while back. It involved a mechanic card and the TIE experimentals were titles for existing ships. It had a very similar crew card though: a unique double crew upgrade called Sardis Control System defined the host ship and the TIE experimentals died when it died. In addition the TIE experimentals didn't receive stress tokens instead treating the stress on the control ship as their own.
Depending on their dials, you might actually get away with making them 9-10 pts a piece, especially since they HAVE to take a cannon. Especially since that crew card would mean your opponent would only need to focus down 1 ship to kill 3. Also, I think the crew card could probably be at around 2 points, since currently that combo is 30 pts before the two cannons are added.
Jonus brothers ?
Anyway I love the idea to bring unmanned ship to the battle. Keep tie controller card but add a title to explain ship ability ?
Title : Tie M1
Cost : 0 (1?)pts
You can't receive stress token, focus token. When you are dealt a faceup damage card with the Pilot trait, discard it immediately without resolving its effect (determination).
For the stats :
13 pts
Vp 3 (Not a elite but average)
1/3/3/0 ;
Lock ; Barrel Roll ; Evade
canon slot (choose your own canon)
Centerline TIE panel makes no sense. The TIE fighters use these panels to create drag while maneuvering... ion engines push the inner drive forward and the panels act like big immobile oars, pulling the TIEs around.
XWings do the same with S Foils, that's why the "X" is better in combat.
What would a center panel do?
How do you have drag in a vacuum?

Drag in space?
Hey, i didn't make this up. In SW fighters and I think everything void-borne, uses inertia drives...
...it's the hand wave reason everything ignores Newtonian physics most of time and why dragons, ww1 planes, and starships fly in similar ways.
These inertia drives create loosely atmospheric conditions. SFoils and TIE panels act on the interia field by slowing part of ships passage through it. Essentially, drag. For TIEs the individual panels provide 12 different drag vectors on each wing... XWing SFoils in open position provide 8 total, but due to being more advanced provide maneuverability close to that of a TIE.
Didn't you ever wonder why SW space flight ignored normal vacuum physics?

Of course I did. But then I figured that space wizards did it.

I like the Title idea you and Blue Five had. So I tweaked it a little to this:
The mechanics of this look neat. You should test it out casually with some friends and see how it works out. Proxy regular TIE fighters as the TIE/M1.
But the TIE/M1 is still one ugly, ugly ship. Looks like something a scrap builder might put together as a personal project from spare Imperial parts they found.
It's almost as ugly as the Imperial gunboat...
I had 4 separate groups test these with the Clone Y-Wings from the other thread. They worked as well balanced canon carrier with out any further changes. Thanks to everyone for their feedback. Enjoy the homebrew cards.
I wanted to see some of the Experimentals as Titles as opposed to separate ships, but the M1 is not one ships.
All of the TIE Experimentals are...idiotic in design. They look like the product of a child, gluing extra bits to the TIE Fighter to make it 'super cool'.
If they never come anywhere near X-Wing, it will be too soon.

Except for the Yuuzahn Vong ships.
