Multiple Quadjumpers?

By KrisWall, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, full disclosure... I've only played a handful of games, but have been buying ships for awhile (cause they're cool looking) and have a decent understanding of the rules.

Would something like this be remotely viable?

100 points total

Shadowport Hunter (Lancer) w/2x Rigged Cargo Chute, Shadow Caster Title and Gyroscopic Targeting

Jakku Gunrunner (Quadjumper) w/Intelligence Agent, Feedback Array and Spacetug Tractor Array

Jakku Gunrunner (Quadjumper) w/Intelligence Agent, Feedback Array and Spacetug Tractor Array

My idea is to take the largest obstacles plus the two cargo chutes to make a mess of the board and then use the Quadjumpers to try to slam other ships around. Intelligence Agent should help me get to where I need to be to block and Feedback array gives me a different way to deal guaranteed damage.

Thoughts? I'm not likely to be playing in many tournaments, but I will likely be playing people who've played a lot more than I have.

I don't like feedback on the quads. You want them to be able to move how you want them to. If you feedback you get ionized not to mention take a wound. They can die pretty easily anyways. You don't want to give them help.

I have been running 2 quads myself. They work really well. So much control. I like debris if I am running BMST. But if not I go with asteroids. The extra potential for damage is nice.

My Quad squad play has been solid. I have a 3 build and a 1 build. I think Feedback is a waste, killing them early is never good. Also, save points by removing at least 1 of your Intel. You only really need 1 or two. Replace the Cargo Chutes with something else, personally I think they are, wait for it, wait for it . . . Garbage! XD Anyways. What other ships do you have?

I have basically ALL of the ships and am willing to buy something if I don't have it. What would you recommend I replace with? Bombs of various kinds? Clutter up the table even more?

You do realize this list gonna be eaten alive by any fat large ship with boost (RAC, some Reys, new(old) Heranator)? :)

I use triple Quads with Bus to some success. The best Quad squad I have ever made is Xizor/Guri/Unkar, it's never lost. Um, Shadowcaster is good. You really need to utilize the tractors beams. If you set up in a good row formation, you can barrel roll enemy ships off the map. Also, ships that can roll 4+ dice are always nice. It's your preference really. Quads should look like this:

-Quad-

Intel

Spacetug

Pattern Analyzer

Optional - (Inertial)

That's how I would build them. You need to learn to fly them. They are hard to get a handle on. Don't use the high PS ones. Hope this helps! ^_^

Switch one IA with Unkar Crew. You will be able to use your T action even if you bump with a red maneuver.

Plus, 2 IA sounds enough

You can't use the Unkar effect while stressed.

Is there a faq?

Well, no. But listen here. It says "Perform Action." That means, you can't do it while stressed. You can "Acquire" and be "Assigned." You can't perform.

Pattern analyzer can allow this though.

Mmm....guess you're right. I thought that Unkar will overwright the stress state.

I played a few games with my original list. Awful. Epic losses.

I definitely like the idea of Pattern Analyzer. My biggest issue was flying backwards and then not being able to Tractor Beam. I think this would have saved me big time.

Question... can I Tractor Beam/Barrel Roll an opponent off the map? I tried and my opponent said I had to pick a legal end position. I thought the whole point of Tractor Beam is that so long as I don't overlap a ship, anything else is fair game?

At one point in the game's history you were allowed to move someone off the map with Tractor Beam, I believe, but the most recent FAQ says that you cannot. Top of page 20 of FAQ v4.2.2.
