Where is everyone getting bases from?
30mm Bases
Found these on amazon (uk based)

they work great (although my second batch were a bit roughly cast)
Those look really cool. Being UK based is also a bonus!
I've never re-based a mini before. Is it usually safe to do it to an already painted figure, or should I limit myself to guys I haven't painted yet?

All mine I did post-painting, which yes, is terrifying haha, but usually works out ok. The first couple can be a bit nerve racking, but so worth it in the end. Prob best to clip before painting, (ala Sorastro's cork and wire technique), but I don't have a mini drill, so I just have to go for it afterwards.
Never had any real problems, just a touch up on the boots (I go mostly dark grey, so this is reasonably easy to fix) or the odd elbow or knee here and there that got rubbed while handling. Its also worth spending a bit of time planning beforehand which to use for each mini, some of them have a very wide stance, so I needed to keep the mostly flat ones bases for these guys (I would mark the feet positions on balsa or a bit of card and measure / compare which bases would be most suitable.)
Also a pair of these (and some disposable gloves to prevent greasing during handling) are massively helpful...

Great stuff. So are you "snipping" the feet off the base rather than cuttting them off with a scalpel like instrument?
yep, I clip both feet completely away from the bases (just roughly about 3-4 mm away from the actual feet all round). Then trim away the leftover excess with the clippers and scalpel.
I'd love to be able to just scalpel them away, but i just can't work out how to do it at the right angle, with enough force AND without damaging the paint. i tried hair dryer to soften, but still couldn't find the right angle to slice, so ill stick with the clippers
I was looking for the nice ones that Sorastro uses, but can't seem to find them anywhere. Thanks for the link, I will give them a try.
I had some damage to my E-Web's and probe droids, so I plan on practicing on them.
yeah, I couldn't find those pimp ones Sorastro used haha. But these came in quite cheap and did the job.
Ouch, I'd dread cutting out that E-web. Good luck sir! *salutes*
Yeah, the E-Web is staying where he is!
I wanted those one he uses too, but they discontinued them.
Here is the Micro Art Studios tech bases.

I've been using Games-Workshop bases and just adding some figures with the original base on top. It makes the whole mini sit alittle higher on the board which I like. I've also had luck with Wyrd Malifaux mini bases, as they have some good steampunk environments that suit some of the Scum minis.
