Juno Eclipse list quest!

By Zorprime, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I really love the idea of Juno's flexible range movement " When you reveal your maneuver, you may increase or decrease its speed by 1 (to a minimum of 1)" but, to play her you need the Raider, which I now have, and you need to justify not playing Vader instead! I've decided to write off the fact that Vader is much better bang for the buck and just try making a good Juno list. I really want to work the advantage of the variable distance traveled upon reveal. I think it's a spectacular positional advantage to have & it's about time we give it some table time. Please post your best Juno Eclipse list and comments on my list(s).

Actually have two variants of this list. the variant drops Engine Upgrade on Upsilon for PTL on Juno and Title (stress) or Patern Analyzer (action economy red moves on Shuttle)

Juno Eclipse (28)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Stealth Device (3)
TIE/x1 (0)

Major Stridan (32)
Systems Officer (2)
General Hux (5)
Engine Upgrade (4)

"Pure Sabacc" (22)
Adaptability (0)
Lightweight Frame (2)
Adaptive Ailerons (0)

Total: 100

This build is to test how well Juno ability allows her to maximize Outmaneuver, add Palpatine to help grease the wheels of randomness in my favour. i really do favour Palp in an upsilon these days though.

Juno Eclipse (28)
Outmaneuver (3)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Stealth Device (3)
TIE/x1 (0)

Countess Ryad (34)
Push the Limit (3)
Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
TIE/x7 (-2)

Omicron Group Pilot (21)
Collision Detector (0)
Emperor Palpatine (8)

Total: 100

I loved flying Juno... but for one point more... you get Vader? Not much of a comparison with those abilities. I flew her with Vader so that I didn't really need to make the comparison too heavily but those days are gone.

When I used her I went cheap. Like your first list, minus the stealth device... sometimes with TIE MkII... but I don't think she needs it really. 30 points for an Advanced TIE that can spit crits and change speeds on the fly is kinda nice. I guess.

The combo with Ryad and a Palp shuttle sounds ok, but if you're going to theme out you might as well throw Duchess in for that ultimate in last minute change ups. Still probably 'fun list' only caliber.

SITH SQUAD

100 points

PILOTS

Darth Vader (38)
TIE Advanced (29), TIE/x1 (0), Expertise (4), Engine Upgrade (4), Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

Juno Eclipse (33)
TIE Advanced (28), TIE/x1 (0), Push the Limit (3), Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1), Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

Omicron Group Pilot (29)
Lambda-Class Shuttle (21), Collision Detector (0), Emperor Palpatine (8)

I find this both thematic and not terrible.

I appreciate the feedback. The Major Striden, General Hux & Systems Officer do make the choice of "going to Vader for even more action economy?" easier. I am preferring the SD and believe good positioning can put you in a position to gain from it 2+ times on a ship with already good defence. I would definitely consider the Twin Ion Engines if I put PTL on Juno. I agree the second list is not tourney competitive as is. I wanted to provide at least two lists to try to encourage list submissions.

I don't mind the idea of thematic lists but I generally build on abilities vs. SW Lore.

I love Juno's ability - combined with Twin Ion MkII she really makes the Advanced dial a hell of a lot better. The trick I've found with her, though, is not to try and make her do the same job as Vader, as for a single point more he's much better at it. Instead, I like her as a much cheaper (overall), reliable annoyance:

Juno Eclipse (TIE Advanced)

-'TIE/x1'

-Juke

-Accuracy Corrector

-Twin Ion Engine MkII

Comes in at 31pts (though the MKII's are great on Juno, they are optional here so could go to 30), and at PS8 she has a good shout at being able to use Juke before the evade is used defensively. Like a TLT Y-Wing, she won't do a lot of damage at once, but she will hit quite reliably for 1 or 2.

I'm really glad you made this topic; I wanted to make one, as well, but I had another list I wanted feedback on first. Also, you should take all this with a large grain of salt, as I'm new (three rounds in-store).

My one thought was just to substitute Juno for a Defender in another list for casual play, as this PRockets Juno (I've read people like her for them) is the same cost as Juke Vessery or PtL Ryad:

Juno Eclipse (28), TIE/x1 (0), Push the Limit (3), Proton Rockets (3), Advanced Targeting Computer (1), [Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)]

My other thought was that, since Juno isn't viable next to Vader, to validate Juno we run Vader as well, and, since ATC Juno I gather needs actions desperately, we run her with an Upsilon (like you did) for Coordinate or Systems Officer target locks. (In my limited Squadron Benchmark testing, I found Juke, AC Juno couldn't push damage through, while I was mightily impressed with the ATC on my brother's Vader. This ... actually doesn't make too much rational sense to me, though.) I'm having trouble figuring out the Upsilon, though, as the other two don't leave much room on points. Maybe something like this?

Juno Eclipse (28), TIE/x1 (0), Juke (2), Accuracy Corrector (0) (30)

Darth Vader (29), TIE/x1 (0), Juke (2), Advanced Targeting Computer (1), Engine Upgrade (4) (36)

Major Stridan (32), Systems Officer (2) (34)

(100)

I can't test this, unfortunately, as the named Upsilon pilots aren't in Squadron Benchmark yet and I don't own the ships. I did test a generic Upsilon for the heck of it (Coordinate isn't implemented yet), with PtL, ATC Juno, and I found PtL and ATC not to match up well against Asajj Ventress and Manaroo, respectively. But that could be my terribadness. I usually lose against the AI, lol.

Looking forward to seeing what others come up with! If your first build works out, amazing, because I've been looking for something to run a Striker in as well. :)
