Would You Have Started This Game If It Was Not Star Wars

No.

No.

No (even though seeing it on tabletop is what made me interested, the Star Wars bit is what made me want it)

Yes If i randomly saw a demo for it. No because I've never seen a random demo for it.

No. In fact I avoided it for a few years despite it being Star Wars due to the expected costs of another 'collectable' miniatures game. This just ended up taking over and forcing the first one out.

Actually, I play it for the rules, not the bg.

But StarWars is fine to me. The thing is "Do I will play a bad StarWars game?" Of course not.

I did see a demo. Because I attend game fairs.

Yes.

Yes

Nope.

When I first saw it, I had never played miniatures games before, and had never desired to play them due to the painting & assembly that most required. This had the appeal of not needing that, but the fact that it was Star Wars meant that, even if the game was bad, the miniatures would still be awesome to display.

Yes. I was looking for a good miniatures game after not finding 40k to my liking, so I would have picked it up regardless of universe.

No.

Yes. I was getting bored of Age of Sigmar and 40K and this had good word of mouth and reputation.

No, the old PC TIE Fighter game is what got me in. If it didn't have TIE's I wouldn't be playing. Don't take me wrong though, I love the rules and mechanics, those alone wouldn't have brought me in though.

Yes, assuming that the person who introduced me to the game would have still introduced me to the game.

Yes, because I played Attack Wing as well for those same movement mechanics. I never wanted to delve into Warhammer, seeing a tapemeasure on a table was just too much. I almost got into Wings of Glory for the movement. Star wars IP is just a huge bonus here!

Nope

Sure.

Maybe - as much as I like Star Wars and that community kinda-sorta put me on to this game by talking about it a lot the reasons WHY I play X-Wing aren't directly related, and I trust FFG as a company for a lot of their products.

No.

I had seen the game a few times and looked at the boxes; the models were very cool. The price had turned me off, as I didn't want to get into another wargame that was going to cost me a ton of money (being a recovering WH40k player with a minor dalliance with WarMachine). The Star Wars mini's kept drawing me back to it every now and then, but it wasn't until I saw the Decimator which I had loved since my days playing Star Wars Galaxies that I finally caved.

If there was not a VT-49 Decimator model, I would not have bought this game.

Depends. The probability of me seeing it if it wasn't a Star Wars-based game is low, as I neither attend game cons nor to I specifically seek out new games often. So based on that, probably no.

However, if FFG announced a new IP or something using the X-wing rules as a basis, then most likely I would try it. I find the rules relatively balanced and easy to explain to a newcomer, the models are pre-painted to a decent level and fairly cheap for tabletop wargames, and the game times are short, meaning I can afford to play the game in both monetary and time terms. Given that I don't have to assemble and paint the models (unless I want to repaint), and can have a fairly fun time with a minimum of money spent compared to other games, yes.

Overall, I think the answer would be yes, but that is based on the fact that I know and like the ruleset, models, and company interaction.

Yes
