Cost of using a Force Leap Maneuver?

By FinarinPanjoro, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hey all,

One of the PCs in my ongoing campaign recently picked up the ability to Force Leap as a maneuver (and the range upgrade to medium of course). This hasn't come up yet, but it undoubtedly will.

How does one allocate the force points for this?

Does she make a force check (rolling her two force dice) at the first leap and then however many points she has is what she may spend for the turn?

Example: She intends to use a maneuver to leap at the start of her turn, she generates 3 force points to use.

  • Can she make three short range jumps (1 point each for 2 maneuvers and 1 action)?
  • Can she make a medium range jump and a short range jump (1 pt to jump +1 point to increase range, 1 point for a second jump)?
  • Or Can she make two medium range jumps (1 point to upgrade the range for her turn, then 1 point for each jump)?

Does she spend the force point once to upgrade the range on all jumps performed that turn or does she need to upgrade the range of each jump individually?

Would four force points allow her to jump to medium range three times, or would four force points only allow her to jump to medium range twice?

Or does she roll all of her dice each time she jumps (so that if she jumps 3 times as two maneuvers and an action) she rolls a total of six force dice for the turn? (pretty sure this is not the correct method)

Thanks for your help!

I understand the PC has the "Force leap as maneuver" upgrade, which means she'll also have the Range upgrade.

First, neither the Range upgrade nor the Force Leap control upgrade allow the user to activate them multiple times. So, no you can't perform 2-3 medium/short range jumps with your 3 Force pips.

Second, she isn't limited to one activation of the power per round. Since she has the maneuver upgrade, she could (for example) spend her free maneuver and her action to perform the power twice, each time rolling her Force dice and generating Force points. Each activation of the power during her turn would be a discrete activation of the power, and one activation would have no bearing on another activation that turn.

So, yes, to answer your last question, essentially she would roll all her Force twice during her turn (but still she wouldn't roll them all at the same time. She would activate the power once, resolve it, and then activate it again).

Thanks! That is very helpful not only with this, but with clarifying multiple force activation in other instances as well.

(Such as making a force leap as a maneuver followed by using another force ability as an action). They would utilize their full pool of force dice for each activation (barring any committed dice to sustain another effect).

I appreciate the clarification!
