Store champ list choice

By JD0GE, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So, i have a store champ coming up on sunday (4 days left for practise) and i have a choice of lists (i am hopeless at making a choice - you should see me try to pick out ready meals etc lol). So here's the options:

Number 1: Parattanni

Fenn Rau

- Attanni Mindlink

- Autothrusters

- Title

Asajj Ventress

- Attanni Mindlink

- Latts Razzi

Manaroo

- Attanni Mindlink

100 points

Option 2: Dengaroo

Dengar

- Lone Wolf

- Zuckuss

- Overclocked Astromech

- Counter Measures

- Glitterstim

- Punishing one

Manaroo

- Push the limit

- Proton Torps

- Plasma Torps

- Gonk

- R5-P8

- Guidance Chips

- Feedback Array

98 Points

Option 3: Rebel Truck

Rey

- Expertise

- finn

- Kanan Janus

- Tactical Jammer

- Millennium Falcon (TFA)

Jan Ors

- Trick shot

- Twin Laser Turret

- Ezra Bridger

- Shield Upgrade

- Moldy Crow

100 Points

And yes, ive practised all lists and im fairly confident with them.

Parattani has been tearing things up recently, so I'd guess roll with that. I've not seen it played in person, but it seems pretty easy to fly, from a mechanics perspective. You're probably going to focus most of the time. Manaroo is going to give her tokens to the other ship most likely to need the help. You know if you lose with that list, it's not because of a forgotten ability or action.

Not Dengaroo. Either of the others are fine.

Explain why not to go with dengaroo?

Sounds pretty good. It is quite easy to play (never lost a ship with it so far :P)

dengaroo isn't as strong I feel with the release of wave 10, parattani on the other hand, has multiple closers with ample survivability

Personal preference mostly. I just don't like Dengaroo lists. They feel like you're just going through the motions and not actually playing the game, if that makes any sense. I almost feel like Dengaroo is the easy button of list building. While Paratanni is often duplicated, it still requires some careful planning. On the flip side, there are hard counters to Dengaroo and I'm sure people will bring them to an event, expecting to see Dengaroo. Paratanni, I don't feel has a direct hard counter. Your third list is like the spanish inquisition, nobody's expecting it. So after careful thought, I'd say bring that. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

Ok, i must explain something: the store champ consists of 10 players (small community, very small shop).

I know 1 player is (probably) bringing super dash + thing. Another, is bringing 4 strikers (ive beaten it several times so not worried). Another person cant play for ****, and another is bringing some rebel jousty list. Also, dengaroo inspires fear into the hearts of all my (prior) friends.

Thanks for the input everyone, im really liking parattanni as i love the shadow caster, so ill probably use that.

Also, the "rebel truck" one shotted two of the strikers with range 1, 6 dice, rey finn expertise combo. It was quite funny, as was getting off the trick shot tlt. I think i prefer the sound of "no hard counters" however.

How much do you want the prizes for first place? Your Rebel truck is going to be super competitive against Dash and Strikers and a lot of other things besides. If you swap out Ezra for Chewbacca and change the shield upgrade for vectored thrusters you'll have points to put VI on Jan, making her the bane of all phantoms.

Just know that if you bring either Dengaroo or Paratanni to a 10 person casual event then nobody's going to be particularly happy about it.

Thanks for your input. Could you explain how the rey/jan vs dash matchup is in my favour? Also, whilst i own many many expansions, i dont have the chewie crew. I also prefer trick shot on jan and the extra survivability. Ive never won a store champ before, so would be nice. Its not really a casual tournament as people from out of area do come and are quite competitive. also, nobody likes any of the lists i play so its normal lol.

With Rey Vs Dash:

1. Rey is a higher PS than Dash, which means his arc-dodging shenanigans are at most half as useful. Remember he's pathetic at range 1.
2. Even if Dash can get his range 2-3 shots, he's versing a primary weapon turret. Not only that, but he's versing the strongest PWT in the game - Rey. Rey can punch through Dash's defenses even without an in-arc shot, so Dash will be taking damage every round.
3. Dash has 3 less health than Rey for the same price, meaning that he's going to die first and cost a lot to your opponent.
4. Even if Dash barely makes it out of the Rey matchup, he's still got a TLT to tent with. A TLT that benefits from the same things he does, and probably with more health by this point.

Dash is infinitely better in a lot of matchups (Aces, Swarms and Jousters), but Rey comes out over Dash in a direct matchup.

Regarding Jan:

Instead of Trick Shot and Ezra, perhaps try A Score To Settle as the EPT (from the quadjumper pack), which has a very similar effect to Ezra, but 3 points cheaper. With those 3 points you could put Lando crew on Jan (very, very high durability), or upgrade Rey to Engine Upgrade over tactical Jammer.
