Trying to build a bomber list..

So normally when I play armada I have gone ship heavy and not really run a bomber wing. So this week I want to run a more bomber focused list with an MC80 Assault Frigate and Ahkbar. This is what I have come up with thoughts and suggestions are appreciated. The initial version had an Assault cruiser as opposed to a command but I will appreciate any recommendations

You need Jan Orrs to stop your bombers being pinned away from enemy ships. Yes you will be protected by Gallant haven and Biggs but bombers not bombing is not great. Drop gallant haven and free up your squadrons to roam the skies using her brace tokens for protection.

Ackbar is only benefiting 2 ships and he also doesn't reward double arcs which is a shame because Defiance loves double arcs on already activated targets. I would suggest Rieekan or Dodonna or even Sato to free up points for Jan

Thoughts?

I think Biggs is overpayed for what he does if you already have Jan to reduce the damage to your regular X-Wings. You can almost get two Ys instead, or Wedge with his devastating 6 dice and black Bomber ability.

I would move Toryn to the AF to spread the goodies out, the AF has barely any blue dice to profit from her anyway. Also: Flight Controllers or Gunnery Teams. Pick one or don't use the AF, IMHO.

I've played with this squad set up recently. I agree with RocketPropelledGiraffe in that Flight Controllers is great. I've been using an AF2B with Expanded Hangers and Flight Controllers, and it's been a great part of the list. But I disagree that Biggs is overpayed. Jan reduces big hits, but Biggs' job is different. His job is to make it so that no X-wings die until they they all die. And the combo of the two together is really good.

So I retooled the list slightly dropping Toryn adding in flight controllers on the AF2B and A skilled First officer and Ashoka though I could take Leia instead

I know I said Flight Controllers were great, but dropping Toryn for them might not be the best choice, especially if you don't also put Expanded Hangers on the AF. Flight Controllers will add a blue die for each commanded squad by that ship, so +3 blue dice (maybe +4) a turn. But Toryn sort of gives you an extra die for every pool that has a blue die that you don't like within her range. Good chance that could be more than 4 a turn. And you'll get it even if the squads aren't commanded. And ships will get it.. Flight Controllers are good.. but Toryn is probably better. Flight Controllers has a range advantage though, in that you can command a squad and send them out further than the range of Toryn.

I reset back to the Toryn version and had a lot of fun with it last night and a big win looking forward to using it this Sunday!
