Thrown Weapons & More

By Magnus005, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

If this has been answered already, please link me the threads, otherwise...

Is there or will there be either errata or published material to handle weapons? ALL weapons, ranging from unpowered rapiers popular among nobles and the Echani duelists to crude primitive weapon ranging from Ewok spears and bows up to and including Gungan weapons which are a mix of primitive/high tech. The Star Wars universe is diverse and I would like to see a lot of it covered or at least see such things as Era books. Obviously the 3 main core books are based on the Rebellion era, but I would love to see material for The Clone Wars and even further back to The Old Republic.

Thanks!

What exactly do you mean, "to handle all weapons?" Like, a supplement that has stats and images of just weapons?

I imagine the primary focus, at least as far as we know, is that FFG is focusing on the Rebellion era and perhaps the TFA-era when VIII comes out. As for a 'Central Supply Catalogue', it is a possibility - but it seems like they are more fit to spread out various iconic weapons in relevant books. Such as the M-300 in the Seeker book, or the Jedi Utility belt in Guardian. Besides, a large portion of weapons are usually abstracted with an overarching 'weapon type', so that weapons like the A280 and E-11 are identical stat wise - with the only practical different being fluff. Upgrades are usually what set weapons apart from one another. As for 'duelist' equipment like foils or Echani weapons, that seems like something that would fit a book centered around the Mystic.

I imagine the only way you are going to see material for Clone Wars or for The Old Republic is through fan-made material. I know someone recently made a Rogue One-themed splat full of various adversaries such as Death Troopers and Shore Troopers, so its not like homebrew content is unknown. That being said, I would enjoy a centralized CSC type book, especially one that would add a lot of attachments.

You won't see any sort of consolidated compendium for quite some time. There's still quite a few Career Sourcebooks to be released for the game line yet. Maybe after all of those are released there could be something but I doubt it.

The only time you're going to see any sort of consolidated material books, such as a single book for starships, species, gear, etc, is going to be when FFG has pretty much decided the product line is 1) no longer profitable, or 2) they're not planning to re-up the license, both of which means the RPG line is one its way out the door.

Right now, their current business model of spacing things out amidst multiple books (even going the route of 3 core rulebooks) has proven to be financially viable, especially if the rate of reprints they've been doing of not only the core books but just about every supplement is any indication. And while Games Workshop might be the sort of company to just yank a product license with little forewarning (I doubt FFG would have put much effort into a second edition of Dark Heresy if they had any inkling they were going to lose the license not that long after), Lucasfilm seems to be the opposite, in that so long as you're able to reliably pay the licensing fees then they're content to the license stay where it is.

Thanks all for your replies.

awayputurwpn: Yes, a weapon compendium would be great or a small pdf of basic weapons, especially unpowered melee & ranged types. Everyone else answered about possible sourcebooks for other eras of play.

I am currently running an Old Republic campaign for my group and I'm running a pre-Legacy campaign for my wife, who's character is laying down the groundwork for the Imperial Knights.

@Jegergryte had an awesome compendium with homebrew equipment and ships, but yeah there's nothing official.

It still exists in all its glorious outdated form.

And thanks for the praise dude.
