Can I play with just purchasing boosters?

By RawF15, in Star Wars: Destiny

I missed out on starters and I am not willing to pay the high secondary cost prices right now. I have a preorder in for a box of the new boosters, but will that give me enough to be able to build two casual decks? Not looking for anything serious, just playing games with family.

If it's a box you are buying then you should be able to put together a deck.

I've noticed that boxes seem to be slanted towards either having hero characters or villain characters and your deck will have to go with whichever side you get the most characters from.

Interesting. Will it be enough for two decks?

I think you can put together two decks out of a booster box. Obviously, depending on what cards are pulled will determine why you can run. With the starters coming back again, I'd pick up a copy of each just for the cards that are exclusive to the starters themselves to help with that deck building.

If you're not looking for anything serious then you can actually just buy singles. Most commons and uncommons hover around a dollar, and many rares at about five or under. You don't need to buy Vader to play casually.

Yes I'm planning on buying the starters once they are released, but I've heard rumors they won't be out until after the next expansion.

Good point! I still enjoy the thrill of opening up packs though :)

I would think you may have to buy a few singles, perhaps for an elite version of a character or a rare or two to round out the decks you plan to play. If you look at what you have closely you may find you have a Han Solo say when your box slants towards Villains. So a trade here and there would be in order.

Gotcha, thanks.

You need one character, one battlefield, and 30 cards. For sure possible out of a display box. Might not be the deck you want, but you can trade/singles too.

It took me two boxes and a starter before I could build my first han/rey deck and I got lucky getting 2 hans in my first 2 boxes.

Good to know, thanks

You'll get about 11 characters in a box, 2 legendary. I bought 3 boxes and that's what I got out of each. For casual play you should have no problem making 2 decks. Your options for those two will be limited though.

Even garbage decks can be good in this game.

Good to play with. Fun to play with.

Casual

You might also find someone local or online that was able to get two copies of a starter deck and is willing to hook you up with eRey or eKylo, as the second copy of the card and third & fourth dice will be pretty much useless to them.
