The rules - 3 E-Wings, generics only. Can fit EPT's. no point limit to the builds. Initiative to be decided by die roll.... Let the chaos commence!
I love E-wings, I fly Corran a lot and usually find a way to work him into a list. We decided to see what we could do with generics if they had an EPT....can they still be dangerous? The answer is... not when the two of us are flying them.
My opponents setup with 3 Blackmoon Squadron pilots. Expertise and R2D2 one, R3A2 on another with A score to Settle, and I don't who was on the last one...all had shield upgrade and FCS.
Here is my flight of E-Wing fun. all with predator, sensor jammer, engine upgrades. Droids were R2D2, R5P9, and R2 Astro.
He spread out his fighters a little bit from mid to opposite right, I decided to keep my flight in an arrow formation in the lower corner.
I started off with 2 back to back moves of 5 forward. He ended up cutting through the upper corridor of debris clouds to trap me in the corner. I then made a major mistake on turn 3 by doing a 3K turn (should have done a 4 K or turned in) Stressed and behind a rock I didn't have much hope. He double stressed my E-Wing with R5P9 and stripped 2 shields off after 3 rounds of firing. No return fire from my flight. I turned in slowly and sent the R5 droid 5 forward to act as a distraction. My R2D2 bumped R2A but both cleared stress.
R5P9 died as he focused down on taking a ship off the board. Leaving me with 2 full health E's against his full health flight. The next round saw some exchanges of R1/R2 shots. I severely crippled his stressbot E-Wing and survived the return fire with only 2 shield leaving R2D2.
I slow crawled with R2D2 and did a feint with R2. He overshot me and I was able to strip shields off his R2D2 equipped one and get a hit in on the other. He K-Turned and exchanged fire again, this time we each lost an E-wing with my R2D2 getting popped and his weakened pilot running out of luck.
From here I had his R2D2 equipped fighter left, with him having no shields and my R2 droid fighter at full health. We darted around each other for a little bit while he regained shields and I re-positioned. 3 natural evade dice on my side 2 turns in a row! but eventually his use of expertise and R2D2 vs my Sensor Jammer R2 Astro just wasn't going to work and it ended up with 2/2 health remaining on his droid.
It was a very fun match, but I don't think even with a free EPT upto 3 points these pilots could be effective in a mini swarm against the current meta. It was a nice escape from the normal 100/6 tho.
