I also feel bad for the storm troopers that took the beach and were tragically killed by Tarkin; my heart is sad as an Imp player.

What?

As an Imp player you should know that troopers are for target practice :D

Just saw on youtube earlier today the battle of Scarif (Divided in two parts).

And I discovered another little easter egg, that no one I recall had noticed.

The female pilot confirming that she is firing Ion torpedoes, is wearing a helmet in a similar color style as Biggs from ANH.

Can't wait for the movie getting out on Blueray/DVD :D

FWIW, I saw it the first time in 3D and Tarkin looked soft focus and cartoony.

Saw it the second time in 2D: wow what a difference. The skin textures were much more believable and it looked *much* more like a real person. The eyes still look a little dead, as they seem to with CGI characters, but overall I had a much better appreciation of what they achievex and I didn't feel it stuck out like a proverbial sore thumb.

I've only seen it in 2D and I wasn't sure he was CG until later. He had certain offness to him, but honestly given what a soulless monster Tarkin is, that seems appropriate. He was just far enough into the uncanny valley to be the good kind of off-putting. Leia was more noticeably CGI for me but not so much that it bugged me. I wish it had been more convincing but honestly I'd love to see an animated movie that looked like those two characters did. It only looks weird when you've got an unedited real person right there for comparison.

It's funny, when I left the theater I thought it was fine but not great. After watching it at home a couple of times I liked it more and more after each viewing to the point where I currently think it's the best Star Wars movie out there (granted that may change after several months and more viewings).

I do think the whole Eadu sequence was just for a bad ass X-wing/Y-wing battle. I don't think it really adds anything other then that to the film. Before Eadu the rebels knew where the plans to the deathstar were from Galen's recording, after they had no additional information. It did provide the moment that Cassien started to care about Jyn and showed he was willing to disobey orders but that wasn't really crucial and could have been accomplished in the scene on Yavin 4 when he shows up with the other troopers.

But that is such a minor criticism and the fighters attacking Eadu was totally worth it :) If anything the fighter scenes in this movie make me think a Rogue Squadron movie could work really well.

I think it has more to it, the starting mission was to "rescue" Galen, and this scene is where Cassian, about to assasinate a man, sees the death troopers shoot a whole group of Imperial scientists because of one man, and it changes his attitude towards Jyn. It also carries on to the fact that the ONLY way to obtain the plans isby going to a high-security military base (Death Trooper training camp was there) with added security for the database as well. Stealing from Scariff to get the plans instead of getting a man out of Eadu would be simply stupid

What the Wookiee!!! :D

DVD Release is April 4. Birthday is April 16. If I'm really, really lucky, and able to get myself anything , it'll be that, and the Wife and I can watch it then.

Otherwise, it'll be ~August when it hits Netflix in Canada, due to the Disney distrib agreement, and we'll be able to watch it then.

Look at it that way: even in the worst case (August), you are basically already half way there.

And its not like it wasn't spoiled - day 1 - here, on these forums, anyway.

After watching it six times in theaters and still Loving it, yeah okay the character development could have been better for the mains. Hell, it feels like there was more development for Baze and Chirrut. But to me the great travesty was killing all the characters. The argument that it wouldn't make sense for them to live for continuity reasons is BS. The Galaxy is huge, we can safely assume any character not shown in any given movie is off doing other things. I like my heroes to be heroic, make sacrifices, win, and ultimately die well. But ALL of them? In one battle? I mean it's Star Wars, where's the plot armor? I really want to see the bonus features, and hopefully the original cuts or scripts (like the ones we see in the trailers).

But here's what I really wanted. Jyn and Cassian have a good romance form, but in the end, at a crucial moment, Cassian has to make a choice of saving Jyn or getting the plans. And then just like in the beginning when he kills his contact, he goes straight for the objective, sacrificing Jyn, and winds up boarding a ship and escaping as the sole survivor on the ground from Scarif, only to realize he's still clutching the kyber necklace in his hand. Now left with even more remorse for the actions he's taken to help the rebellion, more of the 'terrible things' he mentions when he gathers the troops, he resigns and goes into hiding. Years later the rebellion tracks him down just like they did Jyn, set him down in front of his old Commander and Mothma, and tell him about the plan to steal the second set of Death Star designs. A mission that can't be linked back to the main rebel effort for security reasons, he will have to go join a independent rebel cell and lead them to the objective. And there just happens to be one on Bothawui. He takes as his call sign Rogue Two, which when talking with the independent Bothan rebels makes them think he's a member of famous Skywalker's squadron and may or may not curry some favor or resentment. And in the act of stealing the plans Cassian is once again faced with sacrificing comrades, or accomplishing the objective. But in the final moment a option is presented where he can instead sacrifice himself in a explosion that will destroy all evidence of him being there, and cover the escape of the Bothan rebels he's now trained up to fight the empire. Taking the chance to atone and be free of the remorse he feels he shoves the box hiding the plans into one of the Bothan spy's hands and goes out in a blaze of glory. When the Bothans, who now travel freely being presumed dead, make it to contact the rebel alliance and they specifically ask to talk to Rogue squad believing it was they who contacted them first. Luke himself, confused, volunteers to be the contact on Tatooine. And when he opens the box, there inside are the plans and a necklace, with a Kyber Crystal. And that's the one Luke uses to build his new lightsaber before the Return of the Jedi. Then we get to tell the story of how Jyn's mom got it. I don't know if it would have fit in the chronology or not, but It could of been so exciting!

If not, i think we ought to take up a "save the Drasnighta" campaign and raise funds for your own movie copy :)
