CorSec Academy: Building a List #2 - Dewback Brigade

By playnwin, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Nice feed-back! Thanks.

I *really* want to run Comm Disruption as a second Negation with my Scum Hunters, but I always find myself spending those 2 points on 2 1-point cards like Tough Luck and Blitz. But I'll consider that the next time I put together a Imperial Zillo list.

I don't think eStormtroopers are still up there after the scoring rules change and the Jabba wave. The map rotation doesn't do them any favours either.

In fact, with those two Trooper groups and the pair of Reinforcements I foresee you having a less than fun time when faced by the combination of Jabba and Kenobi, which has been quite popular locally and is pretty ugly vs. 'old meta' trooper-heavy lists.

Even Zillo isn't what it used to be with how liberally AOE and 1 damage ping effects can be slotted into a list compared to pre-Jabba wave. It's pretty easy to just casually frag that trooper you protected by burning a card.

I have been toying around with a list like this recently, with eJet Troopers instead of a dewback and an officer, and I still think that teh eStormies are worth it. They are certainly not as strong, but with the focus on uniques, it still helps to have a flood of figures. And I do think the rotation is benecificial to them, particularly the patron mission on the new map. The camera mission on the ISB map is rough, but you can try to position your dewbacks to shield you from cameras or build a wall of figs to block LoS.

I'd dump one of the eStormies for eJet Troopers with targeting computer, then you can fit Rule By Fear in, this is addition by subraction. You will make your list stronger and if you're not starving for command cards, you're playing it wrong (sorry, but you are if you want to win, the command cards will win the game for you) You also need to change up your list a bit to maximize your command cards.

Then dump the 2x Reinforcements

Get Ferocity (you can't seriously be playing multiple dewbacks without it,) Overrun, Survival Instincts or Fuel Upgrade, You also need Planning (to make Rule by Fear even better) and I really like New Orders and Single Purpose for those times you need to double flamethrower someone to kill him.

3 Grenadier

2 Call the Vanguard

2 Overrun

1 Negation

1 Ferocity

1 Strength in Numbers

1 Tough Luck

0 Element of Surprise

0 Planning

0 Take Initiative

you've got 6 cards and 5 pts to play with. New Orders is amazing trading a officer for terro or something, I guess if you prefer inspiring speech that's fine. I see what you're doing with Comm Disruption so I'm okay that way, but you want to get as many attacks in as possible, so even something like wild fury is worth looking at.
