So here is an idea, Sort of a take on the Hangar bay but slightly different.

So each player makes two 75 point lists. One list of nothing but small ships and another list of nothing but large ships. Lists don't have to be the same faction and you can cross over unique. Like Luke<pilot> in your small list and Luke<crew> in your large list.

Swiss is split into two brackets, small ship and large ships. Everyone plays half their swiss games with their small ship list against other small ships and then the other half with their large ships against other large ships. (So small vs small then change over to large vs large.)

Here is the twist. The after the cut both players pair their lists together for one large 150 point list for the final elimination. The only restriction is separately they were legal 75 point limit lists. So here you could have say a mix faction or even doubles. As long as you advance past the top cut.

So what do you think of this idea for a format? Is this enough of a shake up or too much of a shake up?

75pts is hard to do with just large ships.

Depends on what you mean by hard. It is rather easy to get two large base ships and just fill them up with upgrades for the rest of your points. The faction that would have the hardest would be Rebels since their cheapest the ORS starts at 27 so their cheapest 2 ship start would be 54 which leaves them with only 21 points to change pilots or ships and upgrades. But you can still get a Decimator and a shuttle for less than 75 points. You just won't be building top list like Fat Han and Brobots (which is sort of the point of this format). Hard to take a top winning large ship netlist and cram it into a 75 point list that can still synergies with your 75 points of small ships. Yes but very easy to get two large ships put them together for a mere 75 points.
