Is it legal to have Darth Vader represented on the field with a squadron base that has a tie advanced in the lead position with two tie fighter escorts? My initial thought would be yes, since it seperates the character out but thought I'd get everyone else's thoughts on the matter.
Darth Vader Squadron Representation - Tournament Legality
No, but very few will object to it. Just bring the other two advanced models and swap them out if an opponent complains, done and done. They would be within their rights to do so, since you do have to use the right model for a ship or squadron. It apparently legitimately throws some people off.
One of the guys around here, generally super laid back about that kind of thing, says it confuses him to see the TIE fighters, and asks opponents not to use that mod. I like it, think it looks cool, but it's a concession that's trivially easy to make, so I do.

Don't these people have proper appreciation for Star Wars!?!

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure if as long as I brought the proper models as well if it would be an issue.
And that is the reason I do not play in tourneys...................too bloody strict, lets say OCD with an attitude.

No worries... like I said, extremely unlikely to be an issue, and worst case you just swap out the models for one game.

Tourneys aren't for everyone, and that's cool... lots of ways to enjoy the game.
But who said anything about an attitude? Politely asking your opponent to adhere to the rules to ease the flow of play is hardly indicative of an attitude. That's a pretty big assumption to make.
The World Cup final was played with modified flotillas and nobody complained about them so I doubt it would be a problem. In fact, I think it could be encouraged as in this case you can more easily distinguish the unique squadron from the general ones.
I would say that 99% of opponents would think the TIE mod would be awesome.
Just now, CaribbeanNinja said:I would say that 99% of opponents would think the TIE mod would be awesome.
And I would agree.
But that doesn't mean the Rules do, of course..
Yeah so Ard's advice still holds, really. Just bring the TIE Advanced models just in case...
You'll rarely swap them out.
I got ya @whiteferret76 .
Here is your idea, which is very cool:
And here is my "Official CNinja Darth Vader Squadron Modification Modification" in case you run into anyone that cannot tell that it is Darth Vader squadron:
Problem solved.
Sorry Cninj, that's a "Note" and thus, cannot be referenced in a Tournament.
