Guerilla (E Alliance Rangers) defeating door - hidden?

By Masterchiefspiff, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

If an alliance ranger (regular or elite) attacks a door (one man's trash) or a holocam (reconnaissance) does the ranger become hidden through guerrilla (after you resolve an attack, if the defender was defeated, become hidden)?

Defender is not a keyword. "Destroyed" is the word used to describe attacking objects on Rules Reference Guide page 6. But destroyed isn't a keyword any where.

So is a door a defender? And is a destroyed door a defeated door?

Objects and figures are targets.

Defender implies a figure. Objects can have defense, but they are not defending. And like you say, objects are destroyed, figures are defeated. I'm pretty sure the designers have confirmed that a defender means a target figure. (If not publicly, then in a private communication.)

If you have not convinced yourself, look at the theme. Would Sniper match someone destroying objects, or defeating figures?

Edit: Skirmish-Vinto's Boltslinger also uses defender , which should help with interpretation. ( a hostile figure other than the defender )

I had this same question before but if you read attacking objects in RRG, doors are never defeated (they are opened). Same with objects, they are not defeated but instead destroyed

Doors with health can also be destroyed (removed from the map), and destroyed doors are considered to have been opened. (To trigger mission events.)

So vinto can't boltslinger the dianoga? And an alliance ranger that defeats the dianoga can't gain hidden?

Correct, No boltslinger and no hidden for rangers.
