Rafpark Explains the Rules

By drkpnthr, in Runewars Miniatures Game

He has a lot more images of cards from the core set.

Am I reading this right where he is saying that the number of facing trays DOES multiply surges and such?

No. It doesn't.

It is exactly what he says. In his example he rolls a surge with threat 3 so he gets to spend 3 surges. Either he read the rules wrong or you do not remember well. I would be very happy if it was the latter as I think this would work much better

He does state that, although it is now impossible to say if He's right or has misread the rules as the article from FFG regarding combat doesn't explain what happens to surge results...Oh well we'll see when we'll have the rules in hand :).

He does say it again later in the article so he seems pretty sure. This actually leads to a question I have : would one ever be keen to get multiple accuracy? Is there any point in getting more than one?

Yes, if you have a full force of spearmen, against a unit with multiple upgrade models. You use rerolls from back ranks to reroll for them and could kill most of the officers in one turn as long as you got one or two. Then later turns you just roll to avoid them against that unit, maybe in favor of surges for inspiration.

In the damage forum we were fairly confident it would not multiply surges and morale. I think surely he must be wrong... but I thought the Rafpark's way originally too because of a line from the combat article...

The players have their armies ready, it now remains to **** on the ghoul with blow of pitous and .. stop !!!!

I really question Google translate...

I think he's using a lot of french slang...

@TallTonyB has not said so outright, by I believe he was a playtester, as evidenced by the fact that he ran the demo table at GenCon. Playtester or not, his time at GenCon leads me to believe his interpretation of the rules over this other guy. I think our informant just misinterpreted how facing works with the dice symbols.

I hesitate on making any further comment on his language as He clearly seems to have taken it quite badly. I also know that He reads us so i won't pour anymore fuel on the fire but still...

Google can't keep up with slang, particularly specialised one such as 'pitou' which means miniature/figure/soldier, for example. Google will give you the general meaning but if you need parts translated properly then I'd be happy to be of assistance

I'm not speaking about those expressions He uses, don't worry. But let's go back to business...never mind my posts...

As far as wanting multiple accuracies goes, each accuracy lets you assign up to one wound of damage to an upgrade model, so if the model in question has more than one hit point, you would want a few accuracies so you could assign more wounds to them.

Ok, sorry I threw this up in a minute between classes. I could've been more clear. The rules I've seen state that normal hits (not mortal strikes) are the only thing that gets multiplied by threat. None of the other symbols get multiplied. That being said, I haven't had access to the final production rule book, so things could have changed. I cant say for certain. I should have a final rulebook at Adepticon in March. I probably won't be able to post any pictures from it if it isn't released by then, but I can answer some questions. Hope that helps.

The article just makes me want to read the book to clarify whatever Google is trying to translate. Good to see more images though!

Anyone willing to translate the site into english or spanish? I've tried reading in original version, but my French is very bad... and Google Translator is very bad, too... A good translation into English or Spanish would be very appreciated :) Is there any blog about RW that has this article translated?
