Clone Wars Leaving Netflix

By Icosiel, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

This is just a heads-up to all my fellow Star Wars fans! The Clone Wars is being taken off of Netlfix on March 7th. This show is truly incredibly, so binge it while you can. I've ripped off so much of this show for my games. It's genuinely some of the best Star Wars stories we've ever gotten.

NOOOOOOO!!!!

I have the discs for most of the seasons, but now no one will have access to season 6...

Season 6 is available on Blu ray.

Hmmm, that's new, out of stock on Amazon now. Guess I'll have to keep track of it

And this is why I still prefer physical media.

I got it all from iTunes, but they no longer have the full-length movie. It's not a great movie, but it's good to include when watching the whole series in chronological order

One of these days I'm going to do that.

There are tools for downloading stuff from Netflix and making it playable offline.

Heck, Netflix has their own tools for doing this, so that you can watch videos while disconnected from the ‘net and on a plane — and presumably without wifi.

I've got a feeling that once they take it offline, they aren't paying Disney for the license any longer so your device will give you a message next time you try to play it. I suppose you could download all you can then never reconnect to the internet by any means until you are done watching? Then again, the Netflix app might not load and play at all without a connection?

You are correct that the Netflix app would refuse to play the content once it has been removed from their system. They have a DRM system like Apple does for iTunes.

That said, once it is downloaded, there’s nothing stopping you from running another program to convert that to a form that is more permanent. Or using a different program to download the content from the servers and do the conversion on the fly.

At that point you might as well use a different illegal method that isn't so cumbersome and awkward.

Nothing to prevent it except your personal morals I suppose. :)

Well what I mean is downloading it right off of Netflix to view beyond when their license period is up is already as much of a breach of the law as typical piracy, so at that point it's totally just a matter of convenience.

If you want to break the copy protection, you could just stream the clone wars on of of the dozen sites who still stream it after it is gone from netflix. Why bother to even promote an inconvenient illegal methode? ;-)

It not really an argument for netflix. If you want to own something, go for BUYING something which you are allowed to permanently store on physical media. Does not matter if it is DVDs, BRs, or Harddrives, what matter is the licence you buy. And with netflix you clearly just renting whatever they have in store for you right now. Which is fine, but not the way to own something. (As much as you can own something which is basically a licence for data use)

My son and I have some serious binge-watching to accomplish in the next couple of weeks. Does the movie serve as an introduction to the series?

Also, is Season 6 "The Lost Missions?"

Yes and yes.

That was the original intention of the movie, it introduces most of the major characters. However, some of the episodes happen out of order (including a couple set before the movie)...you'll see an episode where someone dies, and then a couple episodes later they appear again. The episodes (including movie) in chronological order are:

Also, the movie is Fing awful.

And I say this from someone who does like the series, man that movie is a serious chore to get through.

KissCartoon has all the seasons and I haven't heard anything of them going away there, in order to skip ads make sure to be watching on a desktop or laptop.

To skip ads you'll want to click a link that says "HERE" under the initial Video Player you get.

It appears that Clone Wars is not being discontinued after all? Not yet, at any rate.
