Dealing with a pimped out ISD

By Robojoel, in Star Wars: Armada

So in the next round of CC I am facing A pimped out ISD, not sure exactly of the build yet, he has a couple of flotillas and a raider with a load of elite squads as well but I am concerned about avoiding the front arc of death of his flagship!

I am running sheer in home one, couple of AFs with gunnary team and a PELTA with entrapment formation as well as a small flotillas.

In terms of set up and manouvring, what tactics do people suggest to avoid being one shotted? So I split my fleet up? Head sideways? Use a sacrificial bait ship?

Advice appreciated :)

The most basic advice is to prioritize using navigate commands to change speed and add yaw to avoid getting into the front arc if possible and to stay at long range in said arc if avoiding it entirely isn't possible.

The good news is with a broadsides-centered fleet, once you get into the flanks of an ISD you can consistently put your best arc into it and it's going to struggle getting you into its best arc again.

EZ Peasy. You Run your Home One straight in his front arc flanked by both AF. Ensure you adjust your movement with the MC80 to double arc the ISD frontally. 4 ram on top of three ships firing at the ISD = Dead ISD in two turns.

Zero Dilemna.

what squadrons do you have?

I'd try to get Engine Techs on the home one and ECMs on that and the AF if you don't already. Position those ships so that they can get shots on the ISD for as many turns as possible. Bear in mind that both the AF and home one can tank one ISD front arc shot with ECMs, but use navigate commands and good activation order to make sure they don't have to take a second.

Sorry that's kind of vague, I'd need to put pieces on the table to be more concrete

The thing about a loaded up ISD is that once you do kill it, you have almost certainly won the game if you can then escape mostly unharmed.

Consider sacrificing a lesser ship to either trade a death blow or prevent it from turning to keep that front arc pointed at your ships.

Without squadrons to defend, it can also be very vulnerable to a large bomber wing. Be careful with this option though if it has the Devastator title equipped.

Is it an ISD-1 or ISD-2? That's a big difference.
