I'm bored, Raddus is all but a given....so what is the Empire gonna bring to the party?

Piett is still conspicuously absent.
Thrawn is all but a Given.
Governor Price could also be a pick out of Rebels .
Palpatine
Piett at this point would be used when they decide to add in the Super Star Destroyer. Thrawn will happen, likely sooner than Piett, it just depends on what expansion ship he will be in.
As long as they give me thrawn I'm fine
I almost don't want Thrawn. He is such a hands down favorite of mine. I'm worried he will be overpowered and as terrifiying as he should be. That, or underwhelming.
I am also having trouble considering what kind of mechanics he would get that would revolve around forcing opponents into bad choices. The only appropriate one I've heard is that you get to pick three objectives, but then if second player, you can remove one before your opponent picks them.
Tl;dr: I have unrealistic expectations for Thrawn so I'm not so eager to see him not live up to my impossible standards.

Maybe make him able to change a yaw of an enemy ship during their movement? Impossibilitate the use of a defense token? There are lots of options that could disrupt the enemy and even get them to make mistakes in real life

I am completely with you on this. I want Thrawn to be game-breakingly powerful. Except, then he would break the game, so that kinda sucks. I have to temper my expectations, which is not easy.
He does seem like the next likely candidate. I'm not sold on the SSD ever happening, so I am not in the "Piett won't come out until the SSD" camp. He could be soon. Or they could dangle him out there forever so people think, "They must be waiting for the SSD!" Sounds like something Worthington FFG III would do. Nice Trolling FFG, nice Trolling indeed.
Either the guy who said 'sir we've lost our bridge deflector shield'
or the guy who said 'too late'
strong performances by two incredibly gifted actors.
It'll probably be Thrawn, given that Wave 5 contained mostly Star Wars: Rebels. Maybe they will switch it up and add characters from the Aftermath books. Admiral Gallius Rax and Admiral Rae Sloane stand out as potential candidates; Rebels (New Republic) would get Commander Agate.
Shaef Corssin - Captain of the Devastator in Rogue One.
He's the guy at the end who tells Vader "Lord Vader the Rebel flagship is disabled."
I was thinking he could have some ability that demonstrated the Devastator warping in and tearing the rebels to pieces.
Edited by ForrestoClearly Thrawn's ability will be,
"After deployment, you may decide whether to be first or second player."
The fun of planetary ion cannon's or targeting beacons that turn on your opponent. The joy of obstacles in dangerous territory that YOU can ignore but your opponent can't.
I think the Campaign is giving us some insights into what will happen in the future. Consider "Spynet".
Thrawn may well allow you to redeploy one ship after deployment is finished, or some variation of that mechanic. He will likely be about manipulating the battlefield or setup.
good thread

Oh joy-my fleet can hardly wait
JOHN CENA
sorry (not sorry). Honestly? Possibly Admiral Orson Krennic.
I want Piett **** it. He is my very favorite minor character.
Imperials could have Piett, Thrawn, or Price. Though I'm thinking Price as more of a unique crew than a commander.
im guessing Raddus comes with the MC75, which wouldn't likely be next wave. So who would be appropriate on the hammerhead. Maybe stretch and go for Bail Organa?

I love this, but it would never happen because how do you deal with Thrawn v Thrawn ?
My guess would be something like
"You may select an additional objective from your pile that begins at round 3"
Also, I'd be keen to see a Captain Pellaeon card, wether its a Commander or Officer card
I'd like a Thrawn that went "Once per round, before activating a ship you may exchange it's top dial with another of your unactivated ships."
The thing about Thrawn is that there are so many ideas that could be fun and thematic for the ultimate chessmaster.
I think the one that I like the idea of most right now is "After revealing objectives but before choosing, You may select a revealed objective card. The second player must replace that card with a different card of the same color."
Then I'd add a command token of your choice to each deployed ship, to ensure that you still have a benefit even if you face off against another Thrawn who can change the objective back...

How does that work if both players are Thrawn?
Someone who can proofread.

Hoping they make Thrawn.
