Obligation Help

By Kman1970, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I am running a campaign and initially was not playing Obligation properly. I am now trying to implement it according to RAW.

A player in my group created a droid technician and doctor. The PC's obligation is Obsession - he wants to be able to heal anything, droid or organic.

How do you think I should handle an increase or decrease for this obligation? With debt it's easy, if the PC pays back a loan or does a favour for someone they owe a debt to the obligation can decrease, if they get a loan or ask for another favour, the obligation increases.

But for an obsession: "Heal anything" how do you think that should increase or decrease? Maybe decrease it if he heals a major disease or wound that no one else could, something with a Daunting or Impossible difficulty? Should I increase it if he harms or kills a droid or organic for no good reason, in cold blood (circuits)? or maybe it increases if he refuses to attempt to heal someone?

What do you think?

Thanks

I don't have PCs hang onto starting Obligation and it's always about working that off. I like to move them towards shared group Obligation quickly. So just ditch it if he does something swell a few times healing. Then move the group onto a shared Obligation for favors they owe BoBo the Hutt, or Lenny the Toydarian. I like to have Obligation changing hands every session if I can manage it. It's not supposed to be static and it works best when it is moving around a lot.

I hadn't thought of that...I guess I sort of missed that. I'll have to look at what they are doing during each session and what's happening to them as well...thanks

For example, the same PC's player seems to want to replicate hyperjumps from the movies: jumping from atmosphere, and probably doing Han's jump through shielding. Maybe I should tell him to add an obligation - Obsession - successfully make an impossible hyperjump?

I'd just let em try....Challenge dice make evrything possible.....maybe....

Add group Obligation for stuff and story circumstances.

So they're trying to get CPT Zippo an his privateer squadron to help the and the good captain agrees, but says "you owe me", add Obligation.

Or, they want permits for carrying restrictedvweaponsvin Hutt space and BoBo the Hutt helps em, and says "you owe me now, Ho Ho Ho"....

That sorta thing.
