Anyone else find that the new Hoth map is about 1/2 an inch bigger in width and length than the other maps? I'm building a table that is exactly 3x3 so now the mat will overhang slightly ;(
Oh well. Still awesome.

Haha, is that true?!?
So much for rule of 11!
I'm curious.
Can you you take pictures?
I have an old (not ancient, but it was gathering dust) official Starfield playmat I picked up in a sale boxed for £20 that measured just a little more than 3x3. I think it's something like 93cm all round, so about 3 ft and a half inch. There's probably a little discrepancy in production and always has been. Bit of a nightmare getting a surface to fit.
I got the StarKiller base mat that came out at the same time as Hoth and it apparently didn't get stretched properly when it was glued. On one side there are bubbles from one end to the other. I have tried to flatten it out but the bubbles always come back.

I also just got the Hoth map, and like you noticed it was a larger than my old ffg official star field map...
On the positive side, the surface seems much less slippery and just a bit harder in comparison, which is great as my ships now have an excellent firm grip...

If the mats are stored vertically after being rolled, they will develop bubbles and ripples on one edge. Laying them flat for a time will help remove most of the waviness but they may never be perfect again.

Ill post a pic tonight
Working out tactics for rule 11.5, and bringing my own mat to worlds. Oh no, I prefer to play on my own mat....
The last time we were playing on one of my brother's mats (Endor/DS2) I commented that it looked 'off' a bit, like it seemed elongated. We measured it up and one side was a bit short while the other was a bit long, about 1/4-3/8 of an inch each way. While not a big deal the disparity caused it to my eye to be rectangular as opposed to square. Turned out I was right.
Not all the mats are the same. The local TO and I noticed that while cleaning up from store champs last year. Nothing new.
Turns out my old map is 1/4 too short and my new map is 1/4 too big lol. No worries though they are gorgeous. Seems like it could cause issues at a hyper competitive level.
I quite like the slightly different sizes... not a fan of "Star Wars trigonometry" that some people seem to want to play, eyeballing stuff is FTW :-).

So those AT-ATs are way bigger than we thought they were.
What about Starkiller Base mat, does it suffer from JJ Syndrome too?

IKEA Detolf?
If you're talking about the display case, Ikea. If your talking about the template organizer I got it from this guy: https://www.facebook.com/Xwingtrays/?ref=page_internal
Clay is a great guy and he makes these wooden masterpieces from hand.

The problem seems to me to be with the horizon. The size of the AT-ATs would be fine if the horizon was broader and a much more gradual curve than what is on there. Or make the AT-ATs smaller
.
The walkers are appropriate sized. The mistake is that they aren't AT-ATs. These are Imperial Death Walkers, each armed with weapons capable of destroying an entire planet.
By the by, TBot, your setup is impressive, organized and perfectly displayed. You should be ashamed of yourself as a gamer. That said, I had considered picking up a plank of wood like that myself.

But isn't that an AT-ST in the herd as well? If so, then what about that - supersized as well?
