Uglies were introduced already in Lego Star Wars: The Freemakers. Already cannon. I may have missed it but I didn't see Manaroo but Dengar was a bunch of laughs.

While a model design challenge, a modifiable ugly with a linked upgrade title would be a bit funny.

Freemakers is not considered Canon as per Pablo Hidalgo.

Oh...good point. Apparently I read a bad or un-informed article when it was coming out.

I assume that is because it makes jokes and slight modifications for fun. However, it is collaborated with the Story Group and requires their approval. So while Uglies is not canon it sure is approved by the Story Group.

Freemakers does need authorization to do things by the story group, but Pablo has stated on his twitter that this does not necessarily mean things are Canon. Same thing with "Galaxy of Hero's". Pablo stated that HK47, Darth Nihilus are still not considered part of the canon story even though they have appeared in the game. Which makes me question if Force Commanders Tie Defender is officially a canon reveal as well.

I'm guessing the same way that just because E-Wings showed up in the latest Armada release does not mean they are automatically canon either.

Uglies are just ugly in most every sense of the word. As one-ofs they may make some sense but there should never be any kind of "standardization" and if there were there should be parts of some ships that you just NEVER see in an ugly.

PS. While I may not be a fan of uglies these are some well done customs.

Well some uglies had their advantages. Y-TIE had heavy firepower and Death Seeds were practically production line fighter.

Actually I consider the TIE defender, star viper and punishing one to be uglies. I'm sorry, if you like these ships that's fine, but to me they look like a TIE with a bunch of unnececary wings atttached, an exploded general grievous and some weird ass sith millenium falcon respectivly.

If I spelled the joke out (same number of wings, turret, technically multiple crew seats) it wouldn't be funny. But now you've gone and ruined it for everyone. I don't know what you're trying to prove with those pictures, either. The ARC-170's wings also fold, and it, too, has an underside.
