So I've already seen a lot of hype about how Obi-Wan is going to be sub par, overcosted, broken, etc just like "some" people said about jabba or palpatine but opinions slowly change. I would like to be a little more positive and let's start giving reasons why characters WILL be good. Name a character present or future and explain why they are or will be good. Or maybe what could make them good. I'll start. Palpatine will be amazing because a few cheap 1 cost blue upgrades are bound to come out, cards like rise again will keep him alive, and I think some battlefields will make him amazing. Your turn!
Reason cards WILL be good
Young Vader and Death Troopers, more dam=more death.
I'm predicting a cost 10/14 farm boy Luke that will that will have excellent synergy with Obi-Wan. Throw in "One with the Force" and you will have a very thematic New Hope team.

I instantly thought Eddie Izzard - "What's that star? It's the Death Star. What does it do? It does Death!"
My vote for future MVP is Hero Blue Jedi. Once we start getting more character lightsabers in the game, there will be so many Blue melee options. Given we already have Kylo and Luke's, I'm betting we'll see other Jedi lightsabers which may be different enough to add more flavor or strategy.

I am so hoping you are correct.
One of the problems with Blue Hero's in Awakenings is the lack of synergy with hero costs and one sided abilities/holocron that favor villains. Sadly, all that has been revealed so far in SoR is an over costed legendary hero (without knowing what else is in the set), and some amazing blue villain cards that seem to synergize greatly with the awakenings set.
Jar jar binks he will just make your opponent give up due to annoying play mechanics

Eddie Izzard is the reason I love to see Datapad on Darth Vader. "No, I will not need a tray. I do not need a tray to kill you. I can kill you without a tray, with the power of the Force, which is strong within me. Even though I could kill you with a tray if I so wished, for I would hack at your neck with the thin bit until the blood flowed across the canteen floor." It'll be even better when the new Darth Vader can resolve the Datapad to turn his own die to special to resolve it for damage.
That needs to be Jeff Vader's flavor text.

She's very expensive, but I think her ability will merit the cost, and her dice are solid.
Character who have abilities based on certain types of cards (such as Ambush cards for Han or any card with a die for Poe) will get better as more of those cards come out. Finn, I think, will be something of an exception to this trend, becoming far better in the short term but losing ground as more cards come out which negate the need for his ability.
i think Obi-Wan Kenobi will be better than many players expect. He's the first real "tank" character we've gotten, and I think he can draw enough damage off Rey or Padmé (or an unrevealed character) to get them built up to awesome threats.

Completely agree. I'm assuming a blue heal or revive will be down the road if not sooner.
Listen, I don't wanna spit in the face of the entire thread, but you guys talking about Finn....
...*sigh* Never mind. I'm sure he'll be great.

He's already a big deal
Even if options will became quite larger in the next/near future, Finn will be awesome just to let you use offcolor weapons and vehicle in my opinion.
That is especially important when try to build, for example, a blue-yellow or mono yellow deck.
A possible (?) fantastic companion for Finn maybe the new Chirrut for example.
Being able to toss red Evil weapons on Chirrut may be easily the best way to use him.

A year and a half ago, Disney wanted us to believe HE would be THE Jedi... see how that worked out.

Interesting idea--Maybe something like that will be a buff card for Obi Wan as well. Since Obi-Wan was a master of Soresu, it'd be awesome and thematic if his saber had a special side that acted like a deflect.
Edited by withallyourpowerFinn is kinda amazing with Qui-gon right now in my meta a lot of people are playing ranged and the entire deck is based around damage from hand. getting out 2 hunker downs on quigon is basically 2 damage a turn throw in lots of shield cards and second change on fin and it can be pretty nasty.
