When life gives you Shadowcasters....

By Suro Kawa, in X-Wing Squad Lists

This happens when you give too many hints on what you want for your birthday...

I always loved the model and I thought about combining one with either Bossk or Dengar, but since I'm now the proud owner of 2 lancer-class pursuit crafts why not bring them both to the table?

Considering putting VI on Ketsu and Gyro instead of PTL.

Any input is welcome, thanks in advance.

Definitely VI and Gyro. With K4 you don't need PtL. Just Focus every turn.

I would do Burnout Slam instead of Inertial Dampeners. Green 3-turn twice in one round should give you a serious postioning advantage, and you would still get the free TL from K4.

Burnout Slam, now that's a great idea. Thanks, I will definitely give it a spin.

Is there any reason to go for Dengar over K4 as I have seen him pop up in quite a few builds? The free target lock and ability to reroll all your dice seems better then the 1 or 2 rerolls if defender is a unique pilot. Even the pointcost is the same. With a those green 3 speed maneuvers on the dial, K4 seems like the obvious winner, or am I missing something?

Leaves 5 points for a mod on Asajj. I could get EU, that puts me at 100pts even. Or I could slap gyro on it or counter-measures, leaving me with an initiative bid. Measures makes Asajj even more tankier as it seems to me she likes to be played like that.

Dengar is more versatile as you don't have to comit to a single target, K4 means you have to pick your target in during your maneuver, which could mean your intended target is out of arc or out of range when you start shooting, it also telegraphs your intended target so your opponent can choose to turtle up or save their focus for defence. Dengar has none of those drawbacks, also if you can attack multiple times dengar will work on all those attacks, as opposed to a target lock which is spend after one use. Plus Dengar works after white or red maneuvers, it may only be 1 or 2 dice but it is much more versatile, and in most cases 1 or 2 dice will be enough.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, you gave me something to ponder about :)

So I will thinker a bit with the combination VI/K4 and PST/Dengar. I must say the versatility of pst and Dengar, which still gives me the option to Evade/Focus or TL appeals to me the most.

I like this load-out quite a bit:

Round 1 you can use SLAM and EU to move Ketsu into the opponents starting zone if it is beneficial. I like giving him EU since you want to try to have enemies inside your primary and mobile arc so you aren't moving it as often as Asajj might.
