Let's save the a-wing instead of the x-wing

As mentioned, a-wings have plenty of ways to boost their offense.

Most obvious is prockets, but with the double EPT (assuming first is PTL), you can add crackshot, juke, or outmaneuver to help your offense. Not to mention you can always TL and focus if you won't be shot at. Something interceptors can't do without taking targeting computer or getting a lock from another ship.

A-wings have basically gotten 4 major fixes already, 3 of which came with rebel aces.

1) Prockets as a viable and cheap missile to use

2) Chardaan to reduce your cost if you don't want missiles

3) Test pilot to get a second EPT

4) Autothrusters

So I highly doubt there will be any further fixes for a-wings for quite sometime, other than some new EPT's that might be interesting.

You have your Alpha Strike / Blocker A-Wing, then the other 3 can be boosted up to 3 Red Dice (at a cost of a Green) each turn, with PTL to allow for an action.

Expose is AWFUL! even in HotAC it is a terrible terrible card (i had a stealthdevice, autothrustered A wing taken down when i exposed in it)

i'm all for making obscure cards work but it is only really usable on a decimator

I think A-Wings aren't in a terrible place - there's a systemic problem with two dice attacks at the moment but TBH A-Wings are probably the best positioned of all two dice ships. The A-Wing Test Pilot title gives them unique EPT combinations and will always help them find niches in the metagame.

A-WINGS are awesome little support ships that turn a three attack into a five or six attac!

Plus they are maneuverable enough to easily block for their large ship leaders!

Tactical Jammer on large ships give the wonderful little A-WINGS four green dice and what else do you want... oh yeah A-WINGS can blast asses with ordnance too.

I've said it 3 times already in this thread alone...

Pivot guns are not easily represented in the game? We have mobile fire arcs, and plenty of ships with arcs to aft. Besides the real representation would be even more easy:

Pivot guns: When attacking with Pivot guns and the defender spends evade or focus tokens to modify his defense dice, you can spend a focus token to negate the tokens, the defenders tokens are still lost. Done. A-Wing 2 dice attack relevance restored. Make it an A-Wing only mod.

If you want to buff the A-Wing even harder, make it "Spend a focus token to remove focus and evade token on the defender and prevent all dice defensive dice modification.", again use the mod slot, which means no autothruster.

So it can be done in plenty of interesting ways. I am not sure if it should be done, but that is a total different question. ;-)

These upgrades are enormously broken. They make the A-wing outshine pretty much every other AGI 3 ship.

You now have a 23 point ace with ATT 3 at pilot skill 10, getting 3 actions a turn without stress, and the option to barrel roll or boost at the start of combat, plus anti-turret autothrusters defence. Soontir Fel's cheapest build is 32 points, and he has less health, maneuverability and gets stressed. Jake gets the action economy and damage of a Defender, just with a much better dial not limited to 3 speed maneuvers.

This whole list is essentially 4 TIE defenders with the maneuverability of Interceptors, some of the best pilot abilities in the game and autothrusters to boot. I don't think there's a single list that can compete with this - you could probably joust Dengaroo and come out on top.

The A-wing could do with a PS boost on the generics, but other than that it's pretty good.

Jake Farrell, Swarm Leader, Snapshot, Crackshot, Autothrusters, A wing test pilot, and Chardann Refit have all contributed to the a wing going from garbage to one of the best ships in the game. Also 1 defender= 2 A wings so they aren't neccesarilly supposed to 1 on 1 defenders.

3x Snap/Juke/AT Greens and Cap Rex w/ Sabine's Masterpiece and OpSpec. You've got enough points left over for a pair of prockets or changing one into an X Wing/A Wing ace with swarm leader. I've had decent success with 2x As, Swarm Leader Jess Pava, and Rex. It's not going to win you a regionals but it's a fun list to play and holds its own surprisingly well.

I honestly think snapshot and swarm leader have buffed (indirectly in the second case) the A-Wing up enough that it no longer needs a fix. It may not be tip top tier but it's not even close to as hurting as some other ships.

I don't think that the A-wing 'needs' a fix. It's not top tier but at the same time it is playable and only last year regionals were being won with Chihuahua swarms.

However, if I had to make one change I would make an errata for the refit (a bit like they did with the Scyk) and add "...Your upgrade bar gains the missile icon" essentially removing the a-wing missile tax. Like I said I don't think it's really needed as they have enough variety and tricks to be competitive and also good fun but I think that would move them up the pecking order a little without being OP
