I take it all this lack of product is in the States? I'm UK, north west, and our gaming club has a healthy number of regular players who all seem to have a good amount of cards. As well as this the shop still has a fairly reasonable amount of stock in that us customers can just pick off if and when we want. The a lot of us are just waiting for the SoR set.

Yes this is a US issue mostly. Yes my local shop didnt preorder, but then again I didnt really noticd the game until early December. Since release I think my shop has had 5, maybe 6 boxes in total. With 4 or 5 of those being special orders and not floor boxes. They have had a total of 1 box for random sale, which was in December, and it was gone in 2-3 days.

I'm in Warwickshire, UK, and there are no boosters around to buy. I've searched local shops.
Nothing available in the London area - in fact, I've stopped asking, based on the sniggers and sighs I was getting at various games shops...

Nothing in the Midwest. Even stores in Canada are sold out that I called. And as a side point, my locals have given me some rude responses likely due to frustration of no possible sales. I feel bad for them.

Same, Blade, this game is hurting in the heartland and we have absolutely nothing better to do so we take our games seriously.
I live in the Midwest. My tournament 2 weeks ago was in Lawrence KS. Sixteen people showed up. The regulars from the venue talked like they have had a fairly steady supply of product, which surprised me.
They had about 2 and half boxes of boosters left to sell after pulling prize support for the tournament. They also had 3 of each starter on display. After the tournament they only had 2 of each starter left.
Neither the local players nor the guy behind the counter seemed too worried about selling out. Bear in mind this is not normal for my area. We've been hit hard by the shortage in that there is no product available, but we have plenty of enthusiasm and opportunities to play.
The OP has a point tough. I think he means the game is dead... not everywhere, just in his area. (Also can you still have hype when something is already out?)
You can order and buy more product on the internet, you can't buy new people/players that way.* If you are the only one in your local area playing a game than you won't have a good time.
I've seen game death occur several times at my LGS: Monsterpocalypse: one tournament and that was it. Horrorclix, one tournament and then the second set couldn't get into Europe due to quality/saftey norms. Killed the game overnight. Marvel dice masters. Not enough product for 1st set and 2 years on It's down to two players.
Destiny is catching on a bit but not as much as I'd like (seriously nobody around here likes collectable dice games it seems) The LGS still has product tough.
* yes you can use social media to reach out more easily, but if you are in Ohio and I'm in Belgium, well let's just say that while I like Destiny I'm not gonna hop on a trans atlantic flight to play.

I live closer than that (in NE Indiana), and have been to a couple of events locally. There are regular events in Indianapolis, Muncie, and Fort Wayne (All Indiana, but all closer than 200 miles that you state). And the communities in these cities are all doing great from everything I hear.

there really is no point in recruiting new players it embarrass me as a player that i pitch them a game and tell them there is nothing to buy.

That is anoying yes. On the other hand it's not your fault if there's no product available.
On the other hand havin a lot of potential players might get your LGS to try harder to get some product in.
Lone player: "Hey could you order me some SW destiny?"
Store owner: "Yeah sure. I'll order it one of these days. Stuff is hard to get anyway."
Group of players: "Yo, we heard about this new sw game. It would be cool if we could hold a touranment and stuff, but we need booster packs; Lots of them!"
Store owner, thinks to himself: * that's a lot of product, mean a lot of profit, I'm missing out on a lot of chash here! I better place that order right now.*

Good to know but the 3 you listed are barely under 200, muncie was the closest at 178. I used Columbus as a reference I am tech 20 miles east of that but yeah it'd be a 3 hour drive regardless and I am not making a 6 hour round trip to play Destiny. Glad Indiana has it better off. Had a guy send me a mail that Springfield and Centerville have game nights which would be closer but on nights I can't game.
Edited by LordFajubiGames not dead. I live in Buffalo and have also had a hard time getting people interested but we still have a group of about 6. Rochester which is an hour away has a huge community through different stores, so in that respect I'm lucky. Another great way I play is on Table Top Simulator. It has a great community and pay once and make as many decks as you want.
Game is far from dead. I have participated in a couple of 20+ participants without very much advertisement at all.

if there was any product to order

I am based in Southampton but often travel to London, Reading and Leicester as part of board game groups I play with, I am still yet to see a booster pack on sale and starter pack that hasn't been overpriced to take advantage of the limited stock.
To think anyone or anything could kill Star Wars in any form is foolish. Star Wars is like Chuck Norris.

Even Chuck Norris can knock himself out.

I'll bet that's up for debate.
Of course if any one can it's him.
When there's no product to buy- people complain they can't buy the product.
When there is product to buy- people complain they don't have enough money to buy the product.
Conclusion: People like to complain.
Hey, there's no product AND I have no money! And those kids are still on my lawn! Dagnabit!! *shakes fist*
Just got my online orders in today!
Both starter sets
Team Covenant Awakenings Saga set
+5 Boosters, which held Vader and the Falcon Legendary
I'm super hyped right now.

I'm sorry, this is the Destiny forum - you can't post that kind of enthusiasm and happiness here.

My bad, Guess this forum has the same policy as the major news channels comment pages
Well we do have fake rules here.......
